havnt read through these myself so idk wut they cover so ill just be saying what comes to mind atm; dfo has 57 different classes (59 in a week) with none of them playing similarly to one other, some may share certain aspects or mechanics but none of them will be a carbon clone copy of another, not even classes sharing opposite gender counterparts and hardly any classes plays like wut'd u geneally expect them to play like from their class archetype either so experiment with different classes to find wut u enjoy the most, tier list does exist and while there is some basis to them the classes's standing in it is overall just a popularity list instead as no classes r invalidated by content or so underwhelming they're applicable to end game, end game is also a long ass grind which can even take over a year to even be finish actually getting the very best gear and u still wont actually be finished with the gearing process as a whole so if u main a class u dont enjoy but simply cuz it rated higher or at the top is a surefire way to quickly burn urself out making playing feel mor like a chore/job then anything else and lastly balance is also always changing too so who knows when the tiers may reverse itself (actually happened several times)
early game/lvling process is extremely easy because its designed to be easy so dont freet over how easy the initial difficulty is, the purpose of the easy lvling to rush u straight to cap due to the fact that everything is balanced around end game but also since thats there the majority of the content is, reaching lvl cap generally takes a few days to a little over a week on average depend on diligence and playtime and with events going on that facilitating lvling (like the current gunblader/agent lvling event) reaching lvl cap can take just a day or 2, for newer players it can take around anywhere from 2-3 weeks
im pretty sure thoes 2 guides mentioned it but dfo does hav a premium service in the form of items called contract which all last a specific amount of days, however hardly anyone actually buys these despite all the benefit it gives, this is due to the fact that the neo premium plus contact can be sustained indefinitely by itself since when u hav it on neo prem tokens drop in dungeons and using them at the vending machine in the main town next to the npc canna results in the rate chance to drop an additional 7 days of the contact in inexpiable item form, while the rates r low u can get any additional number of 7 days contracts from 100 tokens though the general rate is 1-2 with the rare but much plausible 3
the game is also nearly impossible to be p2w due to the nature of the best gears being rng and cash shop options r mostly min-maxing which is also obtainable though gold from other players too, infact min-maxing is mor of a major aspect then actual gearing is, only real p2w option is faithful owl item in the cash shop for 90 cera (90 cents) which is the state of the art QoL item that allows u to access ur safe from anywhere in the game since u can only be access normally from seria's room, the faithful owl from the cash shop can also be used indefinitely too compare to its free ver purchasable with gold from a random npc at the end of dungeons, safe starts out with a weight limit but once its upgraded just once (from events or using item in cash shop the weight limit is removed)
as for keybinds, i recommend u to make ur own or keep them at default, everyone has their own preferences so 1 person's setup may not work with u
steam is also the last place people generally look for info btw, most of it is on reddit or guild/class specific discord since the wiki is either outdated or lacking info and the other forum got nuked a while bck with no bckup
https://www.reddit.com/r/DFO/
the dfo world is rather big and separated into dozens of locations so general chat tends to feel empty and desolated as most conversation going on tend to be in end game areas, toxic echos (server wide messages) or guild chat so if u want a community feel then join a guild, the larger ones tends to hav the resources to help newbie better but they also generally put a limit to how many characters u can hav in guilds and their constantly new and leaving players may leave their nature to be rather anarchically sometimes, smaller guilds may feel empty or deserted and generally r in danger of being dead but the right small guild will hav a mor welcoming feel to them as those guilds r held up by any amount of specific dedicated players instead of a constant flow of players
ive also forgotten to mention but
u should be able to buy a free trial of neo prem plus contract in cash shop for gold to start u off
(beginner videos and class videos and so on)
that even if some of them are a couple of years old now
still are pretty relevant
and easy to take in...compared to reading 50+ google.doc pages
some classes to stay away from IMO lol
Elementalist(one of the female mages) ...she is very weak early on and a new player will most likely get frustrated with her(u will die ALOT)
BladeMaster(one of the male slayers)...same . . .
i dont play from steam though im pretty sure its suppose to be something automatic, check ur email including spam and try logging into ur steam account on neople's site and seeing if theres an option for it
if nothing else send a ticket to neople https://neople.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
If you have fun with the subclass you're playing then keep going. Probably join a noob-friendly guild. Dress up your character how you want them to look if that's your thing. When you do the Meltdown quests, you'll get a level 55 magic sealed top, save it. Around level 70 you'll start unlocking the actually challenging content like Interdimensional Rift. Around level 85 the quests will get harder and you'll start unlocking raid content which can only be completed cooperatively. This is the point where the real game begins: fighting very strong raid bosses with a team of people and using your various skills to subvert bosses' mechanics and defeat them. Or you could just level more characters if you want. There are enough of them that you wouldn't run out for a very long time.
If you need help with anything in-game you can send me a PM. I have 24 characters and can show you how they work or help out with boss mechanics.
Is it worth to play through the agent to get the rewards? What's your IGN? And thanks for the help!
I'd say so. Especially if you think you can get to level 90 before Aug 7th. If you do, you'll get a very powerful level 90 epic weapon. The IGN of my main is CGDCT. Happy to help. Most of the community is pretty friendly and will answer your questions.
