Steam Controller?
It seems the game doesn't support gamepads natively, what absolute garbage... Anyways, I have a Steam Controller and it gloats that you can use it for games that don't even work with gamepads, such as this garbage, but it seems that this game is somehow blocking the controller from working. I suspect since the game has this terrible launcher system it's overriding or blocking steam somehow... However, it seems there are a couple comunity profiles for the controller so I think it must be possible, but how?

first things first... this is an MMO, of course controllers aren't supported...

lol, no, it's a beat'em up first and foremost. Just because it's also an MMO doesn't constitute a valid reason to not support gamepads, especially in a game like this. Honestly, a beat'em up that doesn't have controller support? That should of been their first prerogative, if for nothing else other than combat. I haven't played a game where I HAVE to use the arrow keys since the 90s. But anyways, your comment does nothing to help solve the issue, only to validate and enable poor development choices.

So, no one has any idea on how to get the steam gamepad to work with this game? I am highly disapointed in Steam since this was one of the main reasons I got the controller, to use a gamepad on games that don't support them...

Yeah, you're right. NO mmo has controller support. Except TERA, Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy 14 Online, DC Universe Online, Vindictus, Tree Of Savior, Spiral Knights, Final Fantasy 11 Online, Defiance, Rusty Hearts (RIP), Dungeons & Dragons Online, Elsword, Blade & Soul, Warframe, Champions Online, Dragomon Hunter, Firefall, Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, Star Trek Online, StarBreak, and probably several more.

Exit Steam, right click on the Steam executable, choose Run As Administrator. Steam might complain about it or warn you that Big Picture mode might not work as well, but, by doing this, DFO should be able to recognize the Steam controller. It seems that since DFO runs as admin, any control mapping app (Steam, XPadder, etc.) also needs to run as admin. This may not be 100% accurate, but it's what I did in order to use a Steam controller with the game.
this game is based played with a controller, no matter what M/k fans say.

Robotica, you can use your Steam controller with this game. Here's how I got mine to work.

First off, make sure you're running Steam in administrator mode (as Hans said). This alone didn't fix the problem for me, so I had to look into it further. What you want to do is go to your Library, right-click on DFO, and go to properties. Click on Local Data, then Browse Local files.

Now, this part is important. Right-click on DFO, go to properties. Click on the compatibility tab, and set it to run as administrator. Then do the same with the launcher. The Steam controller refused to work with this game UNTIL I set the launcher to run as administrator.

You will know you've done it correctly when you can move your cursor around the launcher screen and select the play button.

This game is much more pleasant with the Steam controller, IMO. There are too many hotkeys for a typical keyboard scheme.

i cannot believe they have no controller support...absolutely astounded.

who the hell would want to play a game like this on a keyboard?

*i got the steam controller to work at least for the basic fighting in game, need to dash to my PC to claim prizes and close occasional windows...also the lovely steam interface spams the bottom screen where a lot of action happens with blue button presses showing and some odd blue circle. Controller doesnt work for a lot of in game functions unfortunately.

this game would be absolutely brilliant if someone could figure out how to get mouse control on the right pad, which would solve a lot of the UI issues with the controller.

cant stand it when theres a really good game but the controls wreck it.

i played gw2 with a controller. that mmo is trash and overrated. D&D online is pretty good, though. secret world is another game thats good with a controller, though its not a free to play. all of these games are good, better with a steam controller than a traditional controller, to be honest.
