unless its china japan or kr there is no such thfing as a region specific server, global has players from all over the world, its uses a p2p connection and most things r client sided so location barely matters at all unless ur trying to connect with someone in another country from u, u dont need a europe server, u just need play with players in ur country or near it, ask around nexus or reddit for the EU guild, i dont remember the name of it

Maybe you don't know about this, but far before DFO is available on Steam, DFO had 2 servers and those 2 were NA East server and NA West server. Yeah, DFO uses peer to peer but there has to be a server handling all data streams as a medium, a data storage and a filter for possible cheating behaviors.

Another example, Warframe (on Steam) uses p2p as well. And based on what I know, many Chinese players who play the Steam version of Warframe have to use proximity connection or something like that, in order to gain better connection, not only with other players, but also with Warframe's own server.

The only reason of not setting up another region specific server I can come up with is that Neople has to spend even more money on a game which I'd say not many people are playing.

Back to 6 and 7 years ago DFO and Cross Fire were hot as heck in Korea and China. There were sponsored turnaments every month and there were pro-gamer teams playing for the prizes. But now? The glory days have long past. I don't even have to talk about the hottest competitive games right now, right?

If you play League of Legends, there's a video talks about how Riot set up and upgraded their servers while collaborating with local Internet service providers. That's no joke at all. Money is flowing in every cable. And if you play Conan Exile, you may know that the developers of this game have moved from a server-hosting service provider onto another one, because the previous one couldn't handle that many players, and I suspected that some servers had literally burnt up due to too many login requests.

After all, establishing a new region specific server "from scratches" is definitely money-costing. And there is no point to do it if devs can't make money from it.

another reason is not enough players to hav separate servers, kr, jp and china has an abundance of players (china ik specically has like +20 servers) so they dont hav any problems with having mor servers but global doesnt have enough players to justify separate them all up base on region

nexon may have had a west and east server but idk how well that worked out for them and they also had mor money to work with, dfo was resurrected in its global state by neople as a personal project by in lee the previous CEO of neople so he didnt have the bcking of nexon or probably even neople considering its his personal project and the global team is way understaffed and early in global's lifespan there existed a south america server called soricco which was eventually merged into cain the north america server specifically because of the fact that there too little players (idk y the server selection screen even still exist since the choice doesnt matter), having an EU server would cause the same problems which is why its recommended for EU players to join a certain EU guild

No, we don`t. The game is P2P and it has not an insanly massive population to boost.

not to mention P2P is mostly an issue in PVP, not do much in other game modes
It IS an issue for me. I joined a US guild, and every time I try to do guild dungeon it ends in somewhat of a disaster, because of the distance... WTFast says I have 145 ^ping or so, which should actually be bearable but visibly it's not.

Even when I play with a friend who lives in Germany(I am in France) I can have issues... So even if the EU server will never be a thing, an improvement for netcode or whatever would be welcomed.

I agree with you on this part.

My friend and I are living in Montréal city, and both of us have Internet services with actual downloading speed of over 3.5Mb/s. That's enough for 90% of online MMO games which have servers in NA region. But last night when we were playing DFO together for the first time, lag spike happened for a few times. About one lag spike per 5 dungeon instances. I don't know if this will happen again in the future, but a situation like this really sucks.

Anyway, if even people in the same state in the US having the same provider, have differences in lag spikes, I think it's time they take the matter in their own hands seriously.

I hope they're reading, and if they are, that they'll consider it sometime in the future.

It is now bearable on my side depending on whith who I fall unto, but I still have the red screen on everyone when I party. Which is annoying, to say the least.
