Customize the text boxes and icon?
Hi!! I'm an artist who bought this software after having used Tyranobuilder for a long while, and overall it has everything I need and more for my projects. I'm really happy with my purchase, but I have trouble with this specific thing. I want to customize the text box and animated icon.
Here's an image on what I want to customize, it's the stuff inside the pink boxes: https://i.imgur.com/uWm4dqs.jpg
but I don't know how to do it?? I read the manual, and the closest thing I found is the image maps and hotspots section, I wonder how can I use that feature (or something else) to customize the text box with a one I made. I'd be very thankful if you could help me!
Have a nice day!

Hi hanapetal, VNM has two projects, one is an action UI where it teaches you how to create your own text boxes and such through the use of event functions, for your project, you chose script-based UI so that means you need to edit the Template_MessageBox and MessageBoxMenu to customize them by default.

can you show us an image of how you'd like to customize it? Cheers!

Is there any way to do it? I didn't notice I changed the default project TT.
Thank you very much!

Hi Hanapetal do you want to go the scripting way or the evented way? :)

Hi hanapetal,

I checked your screenshot, what you want to do can be easily done. If you are a beginner, I recommend you to use the Sample 720p Action-based UI template when you create a new project. Then you only need to replace 3 pictures with your own message box and rearrange the clickable-areas on your new message box with VN Maker's graphical editor. Just check Database >Common Events > Beginner's Guide > Message Box > Show Message Box and there you will find a Show Image Map command where you can rearrange the hotspots to match with the buttons/areas on your message box.

To replace the message box images, just open Resource Manager, go to Graphics/Pictures and replace msgbox_ground, msgbox_hover and msgbox_selected with your own box.

If you want to use the Script-based UI, I recommend you to first read the Script & Extension Documentation > In-Game UI Documentation in Help File. Then you can go into the Script Editor to Layouts > Templates > Template_MessageBox and change the appearance & layout of the default message box.

I hope that helps :)

Thank you very much!! I could finally add the message box and configure the image maps, but I have another problem TT.
When I saved the changes, it looked like this in the scene editor:

I'm attaching what I did in the database:

And what I did in the scene editor:

Also, for some reason I wrote the name of the message font well in the settings, but it keeps showing up even smaller than default??? I had another project where I used the same font and it worked?? So I don't know why it shows up so small ;;

Again, thank you very much for all of your help and I hope you all have a nice day!
