thanks for your feedback! That might be a problem with the video file itself. But I will check and investigate this.
GIF only supports 8 Bit, I personally don't recommend except for retro games. I mean we use GIF too in the Help File but I think thats a different case. It would be possible to support GIF, but I think it is better to make sure that video playback is fine for everyone, so I will look into this.
Also, if you just want simple animations, you can take a look at Database > Animations. There you can setup simple Spritesheet animations.
I don't think that's the issue, because it appears on all Webm videos when they loop. Please test it for yourself too, I appreciate you taking the time.
I'm trying to convert a project I made in Tyranobuilder to VNM. Tyranobuilder allows for gifs in a lot of different ways, and although it might not be ideal, it's the way that I animated my characters and made them talk. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement, but it could be a good second option to add (especially because looping gifs are often smaller than looping Webms, no?)
If you want to see how I used GIFs in my visual novel you can look here:

Again, thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to look into this! Let me know if you need any examples of how my Webms are stuttering.
Pleass consider make a GIF plugin (you can sell those as DLC, I don't care, I will buy anyways...as for those RPG element plugin as well, I bet many of people are going to buy those!) or something bcs I need those special effect (like those magic speel effects, flames, explosions etc.) I made from PhotoShop...this allows much more customizations to your game! The more functions it has, the better NVM will become! (especially when another program like Tyranobuilder support those...)! Thanks!
I tried it out myself with a webm file that should produce seamless animation when looped. It worked perfectly in Ren'py, but the same file in VNM "flashed" between loops. This flashing occurred because the movie was disappearing between loops, thereby allowing the background to show through. In my test, the movie was shown using the "Show Movie" command. The flashing occurred in the live preview, and in the Web and Windows exported versions.
A fix or get-round would be greatly appreciated.
Good to know that this is happening for everybody, it's what I suspected! It would be nice to have seamless looping plus Gif support. I hope it happens in the near-future so I can migrate my game from Tyranobuilder.
I hope my comment helps. This issue occurs with both 23.97 frames/s and with 30 f/s as well with webm. I double checked and there were no dropped frames from adobe premiere.
Was this ever fixed? I appear to be having this issue as well in 2020, with my webm videos flickering for a frame or two when it should loop seamlessly. For me, it doesn't happen every time, it seems random whether or not the animation will loop without flickering the background in
