You can also consider trying Ren'Py, which runs on Linux, and is free and open-source.
But this engine requires more work to do things.
Ren'Py is just not great for making complex Visual Novels with merging Live2D as good ...
Thanks for the feedback, I search simplicity but extensibility with features I can create myself too !
This stuff seems really good, how it runs on Linux (natively) ?
This seems really also complex to features and extensible, which I need.
It run through Unity also as I can understand ?
Aniway, it seems expensive, but I want test a free demo on Linux before purchasing, the only Demo I see is a "compiled" Visual Novel... not a true demo which I can test myself..
Also, if you find that Visual Novel Maker is a pain in updates for stability, perhaps you may consider use that Visual Novel framework (free) for Godo Engine (free too): https://jebedaia.itch.io/rakugo
I also discovered a Visual Novel Character Creator here: https://ar14.itch.io/mannequin
You can also use RPG Maker to make a VN with some work arounds.
I mean, Unity isn't simple, I know, (aswell doing some funny things with RubyScript in past RPG Maker series, aswell Javascript (which I use frequently at my real work!), but if I ask how is Visual Novel Maker I would know many "how-features" works currently as expected, since I readed many post over that forum (not only in that discussion), telling me that.. this Software isn't so stable as it would be.
For instance, I love RPG Maker series, and in past years, I already do a Visual Novel in it, that's a great idea, I didn't remember that.
But, it took me very a long time to making it portable over many other future versions of RPG Maker series..
That was a pain to convert from RM2K9 to VX ACE per exemple..
But, you know what, I did not tested if RPG Maker VX Ace or MV works on my Linux...
Perhaps I can throw a test or two to it.
In the meantime I currently test an another way, more reliable (since I know it works since I tested): Rakugo Framework (which is a Visual Novel Framework) for Godot Engine (here on Steam for free and working flawlessly on my Linux !)
I also have many other great products issued from my Windows Life such as: Tyrano Builder Visual Novel, Clickteam Fusion 2.5, Game Maker 1.4 PRO, Game Maker Studio 2 PRO, well, aswell as I have Construct 2 (but not Construct 3 since it's a pain to pay a subscribing fee when I do not use the product..)
I just need a great product for Visual Novel for my Linux, it's all I miss only !
True, and the javascript scripting is a plus !
