the winged warrior bug type monster flies, making it useful for item world stages, though Tink is probably enough for that.
If you want to actually USE the monster weapon for hitting stuff, I like the nekomata class due to its high move and counter. their counter damage is increased.
As my own input on monster classes... for Melee, you'd want to look into Nekomata, Wood Golem, Rifle Demon, and Great Wyrm as some of the better choices.
For magic monsters Ghost/Spirit is probly one of the best thanks to SP regen per turn, it can help a lot early game. Other choices would include the Succubus, and I think the slugs were also good? You'll have to teach most of the magic you'd want them to use though.
Mothman is the best for pure mobility, thanks to high MOV and Flying.
For uniques monsters, the good ones I remember are Tink for MOV+Flying, Gig and Priere for Melee, Marjoly and Pram for Magic.
Seriously though (even if Gig really is amazing), the monsters that get direct damage boosts are succubus and saber kitty. Wood golems are notorious for their HP regeneration and generally high stats, and rifle demons, zombie dragons and enteis are similarly beefy. Honorable mentions go to moths and Tink for having high, flying-type movement, marionettes for being immune to status, and holy dragons for being immune to most skills (and moving through enemies). Extra honorable mention goes to flora beast for being the best looking monster type :)
Best thing about monsters in general IMO is that you don't have to level them, you can just capture new ones. As mentioned earlier they get the general level-based equipment bonus for their weapons rather than weapon mastery-based, which means you also don't have to level weapon mastery. And if you do want to level them, it's still easily done with wild groom or magichange.
Non monster classes also get that bonus. so no,
