Compared to the PSP release Dark Hero Days what will this have

Wondering if this version is the same as dark hero days, if its just vannilla or has its own special characters that will be on PC but not all the characters from DHD

It's basically a DHD port just like disgaea 1 PC was a combined port of the DS and PSP ports.
There was only one disgaea 2 re-release, DHD, so it'll be just that. Probably with the DLC bundled in.

It seems this version will be the newest version since it also includes characters from the Japanese DHD version.

Technically, the japanese DHD just had a bunch of DLC that was not brought over because it was not in a functional state or something. That's really all.

The US DLC releases for the PSP were, to put it bluntly, horrbily broken. Pretty sure after the first batch got released they ended up removed from the store altogether because of how embarassingly unstable they were, with missing/wrong voices, framerate drops, skill issues, and general instability. Even after they were relisted, they were still far from working as intended; even owning a certain one will prevent you from getting 100% item completion, as it adds collection slots for a sword from a DLC not released for the US PSP version.

According to the store page, the game includes the three DLC characters from the Japanese PSP release that never got released in other regions, which means that hopefully over the last seven years someone finally figured out what the hell they were doing. It's probably a safe bet that the other DLC characters will be included too.

All that aside, this'll have the same changes as Disgaea PC did compared to the PSP release - new UI, some improved textures, higher resolution support, etc. To the best of my knowledge, it's not gonna remove anything from older versions.

Where did you get the information about the improved textures? I haven't seen any pictures with any and I kind of liked the new textures in Disgaea PC.

There are improved textures for all maps and item world tiles in Disgaea PC. However, Disgaea 2 PC has yet to confirm the same feature as based on streams, there is no HD textures on the maps. You CAN however see the new textures in all of Disgaea PC's screenshots and if you want I can find comparisons or create them.

Don't think that would serve a purpose since anyone can clearly see the new textures if they play it or check the storefront. However Disgaea 2 PC we don't know, unless Smitty is an insider to NISA and got the information from them directly.

other than the graphical updates? it's the ORIGINAL JAPANESE Disgaea 2, with PSP updates and changes. Basically it's the original we westerner never had a chnage to see... in english... with the neat stuff from psp like Tera magics and bugfixes and Axel story mode.
