[IMPORTANT] Save progress bug
There seems to be a problem sometimes while saving your progress in the story mode, normally, when you save your game it says: ''Saving'' and then ''Saved'' (Translated from spanish). Sometimes for an unknown reason when you try to save your game in ANY of the saving points it will say: ''Saving'', but not ''Saved''. It seems that your game has been saved (I always save 2 or 3 times before closing the game, just in case), but it hasn't.

I've just lost around 2-3 hours of Story mode progress because of this :steamfacepalm:, so make sure you save your progress after every single thing you do and check if the ''Saved'' message pops up, if not, restart the game.

Turn it to windowed mode, I can confirm that is the problem for multiple people, 100% saves every time in windowed mode, if you are unsatisfied about the border then download a borderless fullscreen forcing app :B1:

I can tell you after losing more progress.... it does NOT 100% save in windows mode. Worked great first couple of times though. Last time I tried saving about 50 times and it would NOT save. I tried going to mode select screen and back, did a free battle and then tried again etc. Seems this game will either save or not and as soon as it decides to not save, nothing you do including trying over and over again will make it save.

So i dont know if this well help all but it did for me. every time i opened the game i was back to my first save point. i ended up going to the save location folder and finding two saves which had a slightly different names and dates. i looked at the dates they where created and then re named the most recent one so it had the same name as the oldes one (ie. the first save) .which was the one it seemed to keep loading from menu. after i then moved the old one out of the folder restared the game and it then loaded my most recent save. hope it helps some poeple.

Assuming you use default install directories, you will find your save file at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\91677346\495140\remote" (Edited that to be your steam ID, so it should work if you copy/paste it exactly from this comment) the save file is called "STORM.s".

THANKS, that is the fix.
I went to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(Steam ID Number)\495140\remote"
and found two files
"STORM.S" created at 8:00 PM and "STORM.S.stmp" created at 10:00 PM
so I deleted the one created at 8:00 PM then copied "STORM.S.stmp" and
renamed "STORM.S-copy.stmp" to "STORM.S"
after I restarted the game all my saved data was back!

I believe part of why this glitch happens, possibly even all of it is connected to the bug where this game doesn't close properly, so if you for example close the game, then restart steam, then run the game again, there will be two instances of nsuns1.exe running, the previous, not properly closed one will prevent you from being able to save the game, due to keeping the file as opened.
So one of the things which can be done is of course to take the more recent .stmp file, delete STORM.s, rename STORM.S.stmp to STORM.S, to be able to delete the first, NSUNS1.exe needs to have been terminated, though.
However, I believe that if you delete the correct instance of NSUNS1.exe in task manager, you should then be able to save from within the game properly again, too.
These are mostly just hypotheses and not properly tested, but these are the conclusions my observations have gotten me to.
