Official MMLC2 Bug Reporting Thread
”You must recover all the energy immediately-whoop, Mega Man!” – Dr. Light, Mega Man 8

We hope you’re all enjoying or will be enjoying Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 shortly! While we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the game, there will always be some cases here and there where the game may not function correctly under certain environments and / or hardware combinations. With that said, we’ve set up this feedback thread for you all to share any technical issues you may be having with the game. We’ll use this thread as a central repository for tracking these problems, and pass on the information gathered here to the development team so they can investigate and work on a fix.

Before providing any reports, please ensure you've followed the steps below to rule out problems with your PC, Steam or the game’s files:

1. Check the game’s system requirements
Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the game, outlined on the bottom of the game’s Steam Store page; if you do not meet the minimum requirements for the game, this may result in poor framerate, or the game not running.

Please note that some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work, but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom.
If you do meet the minimum specifications but not the recommended specifications, you may want to try running the game in windowed or borderless windowed mode, if you haven't already.

If you’re experiencing performance issues while using a multi-GPU setup such as NVIDIA’s SLI or ATI’s Crossfire technologies, we recommend experimenting with disabling these settings, as they may cause compatibility issues with the game.

2. Add the game’s folder and files to your anti-virus program’s exception / exclusion list
Some issues with running the game may be attributed to certain Anti-Virus software preventing the game executable from launching due to a false-positive error. We recommend users add all of the following files and folders below to the Anti-virus and Firewall exclusion list to prevent this issue.

Note: to quickly access the following folders, press Windows Key + R then copy and paste the folder URL below.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MegaMan2
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MegaMan2\MMLC2.exe
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\MegaMan2

For a guide on adding exceptions to your anti-virus software, please visit one of the following links:

  1. Windows Defender[support.microsoft.com]
  2. Microsoft Security Essentials[answers.microsoft.com]
  3. Avast Antivirus[www.avast.com]
  4. AVG Antivirus[support.avg.com]
  5. Kaspersky Anti-Virus[support.kaspersky.com]
  6. Webroot SecureAnywhere[www5.nohold.net]

3. Give administrator privileges to the game
If the game isn’t launching or running properly, ensure both Steam.exe and MMLC2.exe are running in administrator mode. This can be done by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting “Run as administrator”.

Steam.exe location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe

MMLC2.exe location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MegaMan2\

4. Update your Video/Graphics Drivers
Try updating your video card drivers, as oftentimes outdated drivers can cause a variety of issues ranging anywhere from in-game graphical problems, to the game not starting, and more.

For the latest Nvidia drivers, click here[www.nvidia.com].
For the latest AMD drivers, click here[support.amd.com].

Additionally, please ensure that Windows Update has been run and that all the latest updates have been installed on your operating system.

If you still experience crash issues, you may want to try performing a clean installation of the video driver set. This will remove any extraneous driver DLL files or game profiles that existed with the previous driver installation.

To do a clean video driver install, many enthusiasts use a third-party program called Display Driver Uninstaller[www.guru3d.com] (DDU), which completely removes components that were part of the original driver installation package.

  1. Run DDU and uninstall old video driver.
  2. Install the latest OEM video card driver and reboot your PC.
  3. Run the latest DirectX installer package[www.microsoft.com] and reboot your PC.

IMPORTANT! Please don't forget to reboot Windows upon completing a video driver installation. This will help reinitialize the driver and the graphics card using the new driver.

5. Update DirectX
In addition to updating your video drivers, please ensure that DirectX has been properly updated for the game by running the DXSETUP.exe located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MegaMan2\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010

We also recommend downloading and running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer[www.microsoft.com].

6. Verify the game’s cache in Steam
Try verifying the game's cache in Steam. You can do so by following the steps outlined in this Steam support article (reposted below). This may find missing or damaged files that need to be repaired, even if you've just installed the game. You may also try temporarily disabling your anti-virus while verifying the cache or launching the game, as on occasion anti-virus programs may flag games or the files necessary to play them as a virus.

To verify the game’s cache, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and launch Steam
  2. From the “Library” section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu.
  3. Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game files...” button.
  4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
  5. Important: One or more files may fail to verify. This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

This process allows the Steam client to scan every single file you downloaded for this game, verify checksum of each, and compare that against the file manifest data on Steam's content server. If the file is missing or has a different checksum value, you will receive a message stating "X files failed to validate and will be reacquired." What this means is that some files have either been deleted, or may have been corrupted. Click “Close,” and Steam will automatically download and / or replace the problematic files.

7. Update Windows Media Player
If you are encountering issues related to video playback with the game, this could be due to a missing Windows Media Player codec. Please ensure the appropriate version of Windows Media Player[support.microsoft.com] is installed on your system. Windows 10 N and KN Edition users will need to download the following Media Feature Pack[www.microsoft.com].

If you still experience video / audio-related issues or crashes, please help the dev team by providing the detailed information below.

The more samples and data points we receive, the better we are able to narrow down and determine the root cause of these problems. Here’s what we need:

A) Your System Specs
1) CPU name & model
2) Name / model of the desktop or laptop (if available)
3) Graphics card / chip model and the amount of VRAM
4) Video driver version number
5) System memory size
6) OS version (Windows 7, 8, 10, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
7) Anti-virus software name and version
Please make special note in your specs if you are running Windows "N" and "K" editions that do not come with Windows Media Player.
8) Name of Primary Audio Driver (Right-click speaker icon, select "Playback devices", locate green checkmarked device)

A good deal of this information, such as the graphics card model and VRAM, are available by running a DxDiag report. For more information on how to run this report, click here.[www.fuzeqna.com]

B) Give as many details about your issue as possible

Please share your specific issue and the location(s) where you’re experiencing the issues – for example, if you’re having problems with the framerate, is it happening constantly, or is it during certain cutscenes, during gameplay, etc. The following information can greatly help as well:

- Which Mega Man title were you playing within the Collection?
- What level were you playing when the issue occurred?
- What was your character doing when this issue occurred?
- Were you playing in Single Player or Multiplayer (Mega Man 7)?
- Did the issue resolve itself when you reloaded your save or rebooted the game?
- Please also attach any screenshots or video of your issue, preferably via a Dropbox[www.dropbox.com], Google Drive[www.google.com], or OneDrive[www.onedrive.live.com] link.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible
This step particularly is very useful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Very, very minor bug on the PS4 version, but may be true of PC as well.

When you encounter Dr. Wily in the final battle of Mega Man 8, the wrong music plays. Instead of playing Wily's Theme (as heard at the end of the intro stage), it plays the Wily Castle map screen music, both before Duo arrives and after Duo and Protoman leave.

In the original PS1 version, Wily's Theme played here.

Another "quirk," in Mega Man 8 Wily Stage 1, there is a segment where Mega Man slides and must immediately jump from a downhill slope. I noticed that there seems to be a hiccup here where Mega Man momentarily catches air on the downhill slope when he comes out of the slide, which blocks jump from working for a crucial moment. I'm not entirely sure if this was true of the PS1 version or not. But I would mash the jump button there and, for the life of me, could not jump. I ended up resorting to Astro Crush to glide across that part, and that never failed.

Music is low compared to the sound effects in MM9. Ruins a bit of the experience.

Game won't launch in steam's offline mode, it only launches when I'm online.

This. I could see a single time online authentication, but there's really no need for "always online" DRM on this!

I was about to post this here, as well. Is this a bug? I'd love to keep this collection, but only if Offline Mode is fixed.

Bug #1, related to game intros: in MegaMan 7, if you don't start the game within the first 5 seconds or so while at the title screen and the intro starts playing, then the game stop responding to any input from either controller or keyboard (i mean the game itself, as the Main Legacy Collection controls work so you can open the options menu by either controller or keyboard), so you can't skip the intro to get back to the title, even if you watch the entire intro and the game goes back to title screen, still no input are registered, so you can't even start the game and it will then start playing the demo mode and so on.

Fixed by going to options menu and selecting the "Return to Title Screen" option, then if you start the game before the intro starts playing everything works fine.

Easily reproduced, it does that every single time, closing the game or even the Legacy Collection 2 app back to desktop and loading it again, if the MM7 intro starts then you have no controls over the game until you restart MegaMan 7.

Also in MegaMan 9, once the intro starts playing you can't skip it, but once it finishes and goes back to title then it works again and you can start the game.

MegaMan 8 and 10 are not affected, those work as intended.

Bug #2, related the sound effects in MegaMan 7: a few sound effects are really off compared to the original SNES version, Cloud Man when he does his electric attack, and when Treble is growling (especially on the second fight with Bass, right before Bass and Treple fuse together, or after you defeat Dr.Wily and Treble comes to save Wily). Those 2 I noticed right away, the rest of the game and especially the music sounds pretty good to me, other effects might be inaccurate without sounding bad so i probably just didn't notice them. Probably not really a Bug, but rather a badly converted audio file being played back, just a guess. Don't know about MM8-9-10 as I only played and beaten MM7 as of now.

PS: those are minor bugs that don't prevent from enjoying this great collection :)

I thought I was just imagining this, finally someone else hears it too.
