How do you access the 3 extra stages in Mega Man 10?

In a very convoluted way.

From the MMLC2 title screen, select Challenges, then select Mega Man 10, then select Original Challenges, then Time Attack. On the Time Attack list, scroll down to the Special Stage entries to play them. (Though I think they only unlock once you beat MM10 at least once.)

Bragging rights and some achievements, plus I think you need to at least unlock a given achievement to see other players' replays. Nothing concrete in-game as far as I'm aware, though.

BUT, beating the 3 extra Time Attack stages *does* unlock Enker, Punk and Ballade's weapons for use in other stage time trials and Mega Man playthroughs, though not in the extra challenges where they appear to remain permanently unavailable.

Is time attack, meaning no checkpoints at all, the only way you can play them? I was actually considering buying the original MM10 on XBox, since it is backwards compatible, to play them with checkpoints, but then I saw that the DLC descriptions there also only talk about time attack
