Thankfully the game's going to have japanese audio for 8.
Though not gonna lie the real reason I am here is to buy 9 and 10 which are my favorite games.
I feel the 7 and 8 were too focused with what they coud do (prettier, smoother graphics, more audio options, etc) that they lost sight of the satisfying simplicity enforced by technical limitations of the NES that are part of what made the games fun and iconic in the first place. (clean and simple character designs, tight and precise controls, jammin' tunes, etc).
The real shame is that Mega Man X did a better job translating that particular X factor to the next geneation 2 years before 7 kinda missed the mark a bit. They're still fun, don't get me wrong, but not exactly the best examples of what made Mega Man great.
I really like the big anime sprites over the 8-bit stuff. I remember being so impressed by it when it came out for the PlayStation. It made me feel like I was playing a Mega Man anime, and as an anime fan that was amazing and awesome and great. The English voice acting was a bit odd, but it was still just amazing to see voice acting in a Mega Man game.
If I could get more Mega Man games, I would like to have more Mega Man games like that. This is also why I am a big fan of Mega Man Powered Up and would love for that game to come to Steam.
This is especially the case after the last two numbered Mega Man games were 8-bit throwbacks. If they ever make a Mega Man games again, which I hope they do, I hope they go back to a style more like 8 with modern sprites. Also I would prefer sprites to polygons. There needs to be more 2D sprite based games. And modern hardware can support big beautiful sprites.
I can understand some frustrations or disappointments with the gameplay, though. 8 was a little bit outside of the typical Mega Man design in some ways. And I agree that the board sections could be a bit frustrating with their whole "jump jump slide slide" things. Though personally I found them kind of fun even though I lost a lot. It's a different little diversion and I think a kind of enjoyable test of reflexes and quick reaction time.
I'm in the same boat, I have 7 on 3DS & 8 on PS3/Vita, & I honestly don't like 7 all that much
