He's very difficult to beat but once you realize that he can be hit by a charged Wild Coil he can be beaten. I had to use the armor mode to outlast him.

And try your best not to get hit by the fire blasts as it deals DoT.

I disagree. Fire does the same damage as lightning, just over time. Fire's actually BETTER to be hit by when you're low on health because you can wait until you're down to one bar before using an E-tank.

Hold up while firing the chared wild coil to make it bounce higher.

Even if you just use Freeze Cracker and take a hit every pass, if you have four energy tanks and one mega tank, you should be able to complete it on normal difficulty.

Bring 4 E-tanks and an S-tank to the fight, the only weapons that damage him are the freeze cracker, wild coil, and the super arm for the rush adapter (thunder bolt can prevent Wily from shooting those small projectiles, but won't damage him). I would recommend you use the freeze cracker as you can fire in multiple directions, and if you are fast enough, can hit Wily twice before he changes spots.

Try to get hit by the yellow projectiles that Wily fires if you can't dodge them as it is the least punishing thing to get hit by. If you get hit by a fire or ice blast, you can get out of the elemental effect a bit faster if you mash the jump button.

You are prabably going to take tons of damage, but you will still win the fight.

This one was hard! I struggled with this much more than most other MM games I've played. Best bet is to use charged wild coil and then a thunder bolt afterwards to evade his barrage of 4 shots that follow. Get at least 3 E-tanks so you have 2 for Wily final form, and perhaps a weapon tank since you will probably use Thunder Bolt for Dr. Wily first form. In all but 2 of his locations you can hit him with Wild Coil then Thunder Bolt directly afterwards.

I've seen some youtube videos where people have defeated Wily final form, using only the buster shot and taking 0 damage, so anything is possible.

I remember this battle being so frustrating that I used to jump intentionally against the yellow beams for being the painless in the long run. But after you realize that you just can use the Rush armor, shoot your charged arm with the searching upgrade, and wait in the corner until the beams do their final search to do the double jump... is quite easy (just 3 E-tanks the last time I tried).

A classic :) Also, you can unlock the battle mode between Bass and MM if you hold L+R while pressing start. At least, in the SNES version.

As a small note, the Protoshield WILL block the yellow orbs, but not the red or blue ones.

Did you try to learn watching videos on Youtube?

There are hints to avoid the orbs.

Usually I jump when Wily shoots the balls, then, use slide to pass them without take damage.

I finally managed to defeat him today! Probably was the hardest fight I met on a classic Mega Man game.

Here's my strategy:

1 - Use Super Adapter to shoot with the arm buster. Be sure to not miss any shot.
2 - Have all 4 Energy Tanks plus the Special Tank.
3 - Defeat the Wily Machine with all (or almost) all health points.
4 - Don't try to avoid the orbs, just jump to the yellow one, you will take less damage and the other orbs will not harm you.

Cheat Engine. Trust me, you'll get sick of this real quick. Just collect the Achievo and move on to MM8 and have fun with the things you learned from GQD.

Wily Machine 7 is a change in difficulty for sure but he is managable. I just completed it using only 3 energy tanks and most of those were due to bad slides. Anyway

Always be under Wily. If he appears on either end then get your shot in and head to the very edge. If he is high then do a small jump before he fire, slide under, and then jump the rest. If he appears in the middle then wait for the fire and then slide to an edge.
