3D: Game models
Can I extract 3D models from the game? I have found them with Inspector, but I can't save it into my desktop like textures. I'd like to open up the model in Substance painter which would save me alot of time, tired of messing with Photoshop on these textures... VIIC U-boat model is what I'm after.

Yes, you can extract them using Unit Asset Bundle Extractor (UABE) or uTinyRipper, you can get them both on GitHub. The type VIIC model can be found in [your uboat installation folder]/UBOAT_Data/Streaming assets/Packages/uboat/Bundles/uboat.entities.type-viic.interior

Also - may I know what you are working on? :D

Many thanks! Trying to learn UBOAT modding a bit. I'll try to open this model in Substance Painter and use it to create different textures for the boat. Much easier than using Photoshop

And perhaps try even convert VIIC into VIIB with Blender

Glad to help where I can, let me know if you have any problems, I am still just a beginner myself but I already messed quite a lot with the games models and textures so maybe I could be helpful in some situations

We're also accepting contributors over at Crush Depth if you are into deep modeling on Uboats: http://www.crushdepthgame.com/

Only way it works atm is to use B127 and an old version of the Inspector Mod :/

Hey I know this is a VERY old thread, but I am trying to do something similiar, however when I reimport the models they end up all jumbled in eachother instead of their ingame places. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this?

Depending if the asset you are looking at is a Scene or a Entity/Prefab you may lose some of the transform data from extracting from the game inspector

in some cases I had to use a unity bundle extractor to recover this data and recreate within Unity.
