Nobody wore uniforms at sea. In fact, there aren't enough options for casual clothes - no shorts, no short sleeves, no long johns, etc.
On the inverse, I spend the start of each game randomizing the crew, their accessories and removing all the Kriegsmarine uniform caps.
Your joking right???
Not sure where people get the idea that sailor's don't wear uniforms at sea?!?
Keeping their uniforms stowed while underway also kept them clean so they wouldn't be covered in filth, grease stains and reeking of man sweat when they pulled into port.
As Dewgle said, no, I'm not. They simply didn't wear their dress uniforms at sea. You'd be hard pressed to find any historical photos of a crew in uniform while actually undergoing a patrol.
They dressed casually - sometimes all the way down to their underwear while patrolling closer to the equator.
Flannels were a favorite for crewmen - durable, light and easy to wear in layers.
I get that people want to wear their shiny medals and fancy uniforms - by all means, go for it - but that wasn't the way they dressed aside from leaving port (questionable) and returning to port (more likely.)
I like how you try to twist this conversation into sailors didn't wear their Dress Uniform's at sea.... Well no kidding....
You do realize most every military to include the german reich has a Working Uniform while underway....
As for ship's laxing uniform standards thats up to the skipper himself... I personally want my men in their working uniform accept on Sunday then they can dress down if they wish...
I don't care, its my ship I am the skipper and by god I want my guys in uniform... I spent 20 years in uniform except on sunday underway... And I will be damned if the pixels I am commanding are not in uniform too.... I find it hard to believe that the German Reich didn't have a set working underway uniform....
I find it less hard to believe that skippers allowed their crew to ignore rules... However I am not one of those skippers....
Is that you can save it and use your preference for each new game you start.
The first 30 minutes is often spent dinking with things that we should be able to export/import between playthroughs.
All I'm going to say is: toggle.
Toggle if you want full-time uniforms.
Or off if you want "gritty". By all means make your own opinions.
