Hydrophone sound bug?
When manually controlling the hydrophone, most of the time the volume is so high that it's clipping in these headphones. Exiting 1st person view then reenter _sometimes_ fixxes this temporarily (until you exit and reenter again) but not always.

Anyone know of a working fix?

its' very broken currently. Also sound loop restarts each time you move it left/right, very weird.

Das ganze Hydrophon ist verbesserungswürdig. Ein sehr wichtiges Hilfsmittel auf dem Boot.

Try changing the volume knob

The volume know doesn't explain how the sound can vary (at 60m or 250m) from the sound of a jet engine in one instance to a dampened sound when using low pass when there's noone around and all should be relatively quiet.

That seems like what one should expect to hear from a hydrophone system picking up a nearby contact, then crossing into a shadow zone near 250m. If your volume knob is all the way up when you complain about distortion, then the device may not be at fault there.

Hydrophones got a massive upgrade around the time patch 12 came out. I think you might be using it wrong.

How is it then that the level changes randomly whenever I enter and exit the hydrophone station? There is no rhyme nor reason for the wildly different sound levels.

it got broken recently.

there is sound of ambient ocean, let's say it sounds like wwusssshwuuusssshh.

when you turn around the phone, the audio was playing all the time (wwuushhhwuuushh), while also there was noise of the mechanical parts moving while you turned.

recently, often it happens (not always) that when you turn the phone then after each movement the audio loop of ambient ocean restarts, so you hear wwu-wwu-wwu-wwu-wwu-wwu and when you release rotation key at end then it's wwu-wwu-wwwuussshhhh.
Clearly a bug in audio playback.

Here's what I'm talking about. Engines stopped and I'm at 60m depth.

I ve found ship prop noise is loud at low frequency with dial set to 860. If I set medium frequency and dial to 800 the prop noise is very quiet. If I set my pc volume loud I can hear it just about.
