Changes to submarine progression
Currently, submarine progression is a bit ahistorical with how you unlock and are able to play certain submarines, and it also locks you into a certain progression path.

You have to progress through each submarine, with no choice to "skip" one (other than using a blueprint but not using that submarine). This means you have to go through both type 2s, before you get access to the type 7s.

In terms of historical availability, the type 7b was available at the start of the war along with the type 2a, with the type 2d coming in 1940 and then of course the other type 7 variants later.

It would be nice if we could progress through the subs in the historical order they were deployed, and further allow flexibility on which subs we apply blue prints, so we could "skip" a certain submarine.

Eg, if I wanted to do type 2a -> type7b -> type7c I should be able to do so without needing to spend additional blueprints on the type 2d

I'd like to see a purely historical settings to unlock the variants on historical dates. Maybe allow a free boat upgrade on a flotilla change, with early upgrades costing reputation points

Why do people who like the Type VII select the Type II all the time?

you mean, why we start with type II? I was thinking it's the first campaign but that I will have a chance to upgrade later on. so far got 1 blueprint, I hope I will get another one and enable VII
