How many players have the Knights Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds?
I'm just kinda curious because the achievement says 0.0%

I guess you mean the golden oak leaves [...] which is the KC5, because the version you mentioned (KC4) is already at 0.6%.

Anyway what does it matter? Since steam achievement manager exists the amount of people having any achievement doesn't mean anything. Also the UBOAT achievements are very easy (at least when they're not bugged) on average and the KC5 is nothing more but sinking as much as you can and only going for high value targets once there's no more campaign missions. Personally I'm at 6.5k of the required 10k medal points in late '41 from a '39 start, so not much of a problem to get it in time.

Yes, I forgot to put the Golden, thank you for your correction :)

As I said, I was just curious... Thanks for your polite reply :)

In the 2022 build, i was really close to getting it but the war ended before i got the chance

My strategy now is to make sure my skipper is the one doing the torpedo solutions to accumulate as much points as possible

I don't find the KC5 particularly easy to access. I'm not saying it's impossible either. Maybe I should have paid more attention to this since 1939. With the torpedoes I need as well as torpedo failures and missed shots, I don't make the tons required for such a medal. I only have 5500 points out of the 10000 needed and I'm already at 1944. I'm also playing a campaign for the first time. This is probably a goal that needs to be focused from the start and maybe more for the veterans of the game who simply have more experience. In the next campaign I will also make sure that the appropriate officer or commander is present during the sinking and use of the cannons.

I got it by around Nov. 44. Not easy, but doable.

Yeah, it's mostly just a grind. When you're new and you're just learning the ins and outs and you're even going home from a patrol without sinking anything sometimes it will definitely take its time. Nevertheless once you know where you need to go and how to focus on points rather than tonnage it really just comes down to grinding 3 or 4 years.

Ugh.... Don't want to grind, but looks loke I'll have to.
But, still, I have an Idea

I am getting close to it, I should have it soon, but I assume its a pretty difficult to get, you definitively need to sink allot of ships.

I feel like the requirement to get 10,240 points is a little bit too much?

I'm sitting on 5,757 points as of October 1942 with 1.3mil total tonnage. All campaigns completed so far except for Battle of Gazala since there's no steam achievement for that one.

Somewhere between 7k and 8k points would be less grindy.
I did not count them all, sorry...

Um if we are talking about reality and simulation - the Golden Leave Diamond award should be almost impossible to get. There was 1 awarded period and only 27 of the prior award. This should be something we can get but only will totally outstanding/war changing results. Not an easy "grind". That if we want it to mean something akin' to the real reward. Otherwise its really a mute point.
Summer 44 and i am at 6/10. I finished all theaters including last stand. Only mediteranean theater left and completed 75% of this too
so we have 1 person in chat who says he is on his way to get it. so my guess is zero people have it
The KC for submarine commanders was simply tiered by sunk tonnage from 100k GRT to 500k GRT (unless they were political like Lüth and Brandi for example).

So 'just' 500k GRT would have gotten you the KC5 irl. Afaik the most demanding campaign in the game already requires 400k GRT to complete the last stage. There's already a complete mismatch between real life tonnage amounts and what you can achieve in the game so it was necessary to adjust the amount of tonnage (medal points) to actually receive these decorations.

Even Kretschmer only sunk just above half of what was necessary and he was the best scoring commander. It should definitely be a tough grind to get it in the game.

i think its because the boat is almost always ready to go out for the next patrol. i think in reality the boat and crew had longer breaks at some point in the war, but thats just a guess
