U-boat launcher crashes every time
Hello,
my Uboat launcher crashes every time i try to open it. Until yesterday everything was fine and functioning correctly.

If i'm quick enough i can still click "play" before it crashes and play the game but i can no longer manage mods.

You can see a video of the problem at this link: https://youtu.be/bCjqP8gyOrg

My pc:
MSI
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
16,0 GB (15,8 GB utilizzabile)
NVIDIA Geforce 2060

Thanks.

DISABLING STEAM OVERLAY RESOLVE THE ISSUE.

Just go in the properties settings of the game in the Steam library and turn off the Steam overlay. This solves the crash issue.

Found the solution here https://www.reddit.com/r/uboatgame/comments/14aklsl/what_the_hell_am_i_doing_wrong/ and tried it myself.

Running fine here but no mods are enabled

Hi folks, nice to hear you've found a way to solve this, but I just wanted to add that, as Freak just wrote above, me too I'm not using any mods and I have no crashes / the game works without trouble with the new Steam client and the new overlay on my fully updated Win10, but also on Linux with Proton.

So disabling the overlay is a working workaround, but the real culprit must be a mod that really doesn't like that updated overlay, it seems...

It would be cool if those who had these crashes would post their mods list, to see which are common to everyone, and then the mods dev could be warned about this possible new bug.

I disabled "Steam overlay during playing" and now i can play

Is the option referred to the "enable the Steam Overlay while in game" located in the General settings of Properties? If so, it was already disabled when I checked, I can't turn it on either and it doesn't work for me. I also removed all mods from the workshop menu on Steam and I tried to play and continue to get the CTD in launcher. As stated before this only started happening after the last Steam/Win 10 update. Last time I played Uboat successfully was last Tuesday.

Any help is appreciated.

After enabling the Steam overlay for every game and then disabling it for Uboat that did the trick and it works now.

Hi. How did you enable the overlay please? I have the same issue as you had.

Thanks.

@Glass Onion

I went in the top menu "Steam", then "Settings", then "Enable Steam Overlay While in Game" and enabled it.

Then I went to "Library", "Uboat", "Properties" and ticked off the option to "Enable the Steam Overlay While in Game"

Hope this helps!

We have an experimental build that may fix this problem. The fix is based on a log posted above by Hummel69.

I would deeply appreciate, if somebody willing to make a quick test of it would add me to friends on Steam.

Thanks guys.
I used to have my FPS popping up in the UBOAT launcher. Clicking off "steam overlay during gaming" solves it. lol

Wann wird das gefixt?
