Lost at sea
Hi all
How on earth do I find my position on the map? I get this info box saying "we are currently lost and must fix our position...". How do I do that?
I have assigned an officer to the navigation station to fix position with an extra crewmamber. But at the !"navigation correctness" nothing changes. It just says 0% - even after days.
I tried having an officer check the starry skies to no avail.

Any ideas?

I dont know if this will help you but i tend to stop and assigned an officer to the navigation station with crew, and then slam the gas on the timecomresion.

Yup, that's what I did. Stopped the uboat even. Nothing, No progression in navigation correctness.

Sadly no. Am I doing it wrong?

No i dont think so, you dident save in port, so you can restart the mission?

May not make a difference, but is your gyro on?

The navigation correctness % won't raise from 0 until you have fixed your position. Look at the task on the officer's portrait, there should be a progress bar under the task icon. For fixing position, it may actually requires days to complete, so try to adjust you shifts such that you're working on it 24/7. Assign two crews to the officer on navigation task.

I noticed in my cases that it only helps the nav precision to increase when youre moving and it takes a long ass time. As you can probably tell thats dangerous because you run the risk of running aground. Hope that helps.

I'm in the same situation.
I have reached my goal of the mission but the sub is lost at the map.
I assigned crew to Navigation area, and accelerate the time, but the sub didn't appears on the map.
I try this twice from a saved point.
Is this a bug or I have made some incorrect?

Wait longer

It's a pain. I assign navigating duties to almost everyone in some order or another, but invariably the "you are lost" happens.
I stop the boat and assign an officer with navigating skills to find our position. Sometimes it takes over a day.

Make navigation 10 points higher priority than watch, and your officers will do navigation most of the time. Let your sailors do watch duty instead

This would be fine except that even an un-assisted officer has greater vision than crew.
An officer with two crew has almost double the vision of just crew.

Leaving watch empty all the time, especially in a storm, is how you get jumped.

The past year I’ve been setting my crew so that officers focus on navigation and i let 2 sailors do watch. I might put a “free” slot that overlaps another officer’s schedule so they might do watch duty while navigation is performed

In my experience, I haven’t been jumped by warships yet, save for one occasion. It was after minelaying at nighttime off Ireland. I hit x1800 time compression and i got spotted by warships not far from when i finished my objective. I died from depth charges afterwards….. Good thing i had a bug report save file just before that so i used that to retry my exfiltration. Don’t remember what bug it was though

They’ve done a good job at spotting planes otherwise

Have not had this problem myself! But i watched a youtube video of one that got it! He said just waited 24 hours and then navigation worked again!
