Yes. This often happens if you get hit by depth charges or rockets when you're surfaced and there's crew on deck.

When your boat is moving everything that knocks them down to the ground is an almost certain death as long as they don't slide into anything that would stop them like the conning tower for example.

woud be nice to have an option to recover them: would require all machines stop and some crew time, but would be an interesting option/ choice to have.

Good to know! Thanks! What about the scenario where I'm simply cruising in really bad weather and the waves plunge the boat into six foot of water?????

Nothing, no men overboard as it is not in the game.

I think whenever you get high waves that envelop the conning tower, for some reason any crew on the conning tower has incredible grip with the floor and also has impressive breath as they quickly run toward the ladder to sit inside and wait out the storm (or immediately exit afterwards)

Also, when manning the deck gun, high waves don’t seem to phase any of the crew as they take the plunge.

The only way for man overboard is if they got shot by a cannon shell by the enemy, it seems from my experience

In the new beta release i had an instance where 2 men got in a fight and i decided to send one to the court martial. After i clicked on send to court martial in a few seconds i got a man overboard alert. Never found the other guy involved in the fight who was supposed to be wounded but I wasn't missing any crew either.

I just got this event! Usually i choose warning but the second time i chose court martial, and the victim went overboard...

I believe whenever crewmate fights occur, the sailor who gets wounded falls to the ground wherever they currently are. The sailor on your ship who got wounded in that event probably happened to be up on the conning tower or out on the deck at the time of the fight, leading to them being knocked overboard and you never being able to find them.
