Game not Uninstalling / Ghost files
Hello, I bought this a while ago and I couldn't run the game, thought I refunded it but still uninstalled it.

I was looking around in my files to free up space and found UBOAT in some obscure 494840 folder inside steam/steamapps/downloading with a size of 45GB, just sitting there. So I deleted it but the 45 GB free space didn't return to the hard drive, even after restarting. I use Linux.

Is it still ghost installed/downloaded somewhere? How do I permanently delete it?

If you refund it doesn't uninstall .. just the "play" button becomes like a wire globe and doesn't let you play. It sends you to the buy menu for the game.
So you do have to uninstall yourself.

I run it on linux , proton experiemental, using
-> PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_FORCE_NVAPI=1 LD_PRELOAD="" gamemoderun %command% <-

This is a video of how the game looks on my rig.
I do play it on 2.5k, reduced the graphics quality slightly since it's still through proton, to avoid any problems.

It does keep some stuff in shared commons but it shouldn't be 45GB

Greetings,
The fully installed game is only 76Gb.

- Look for any Mods you were running with the game as they may still be updating and saving to the drive.
- I commonly see new downloads for some of the game mods I'm running, mostly the gauges and dials modes being downloaded.

This suggests to me that the download of the game was either corrupt and/or did not install properly, thus 45 GB of files still sitting in steam/steamapps/downloading.

It did not uninstall because it was never really installed, which may explain why it never ran.

Regardless, I transferred the folder to an external hard drive and it took up 45GB of space, but deleting did not free the space up.

I had no mods

Not to be glib, but regardless, deleting files but still somehow are taking up space (have you emptied the linus version of 'trash can'?) is not a game problem. Suggest posting at your OS forum, or better yet do a browser search "delete files but space not recovered". Plenty of results.
