How to give survivor potatoes?

Any of you guy can tell me how to give survivor potatoes? For some reason the dev give that as a feature but not a tutorial on how to doing so.

have potatoes in storage (you can e.g. pick it from another ship of wreck, perhaps also buy at port sometimes)
interact with them surv boats
choose option to give them food
drag and drop it to their inventory on that screen
no problem there

I don't think giving survivors food needs a tutorial because it's very intuitive.

I think if you disable food management, you can't give away food. I'm not sure

I give them canned food, straight from the storage. If you happen to have the potatoes in the galley, you need to move some of it from the galley to storage, and then pass it to the survivors.

Did you ever found out to do this? A lot of people have written so much crap here, but not how to obtain it.

It is NOT. I cannot interact with boats at all

How close are you to the boat? Does the boat have passengers? Are you moving or at a stop?

I am right at the lifeboats, the merchant ship is sunk, I have potatoes on board, I dont get a possibility to communicate with lifeboats, only to take passengers on the uboat.
