4 Bearings Method on 100% Realism / Convoy interception
If you want to avoid the magic tool you can use some maffs to decide where an enemy ship is.
This will be somewhat accurate within 50km and then ..less.
Obviously more precise measurements , less distance .. it becomes pin point perfect.

The way it works.. you get 3 bearings measured at some T interval , then trace the parallels of b1 that touches b2 in a precise point then intersects b3. same for b3.
That is the heading of the enemy ship since the distances moves should be identical.
Then using that you can make a prediction as where the bearing would be using the same fact that the distance should be the same because the speed and the time are the same.

Then you move for that T interval and get the bearing again.. and the intersection between the new bearing and the prediction ..should be the present location of the ship.

It may sound complicated..but it really isn't.

This is of video of slow detailed voiced in-use practical method.
This isn't pre determined. aka i don't actually know where the enemy ship is when i start.

Its my understanding that the four bearing method was developed after ww2 ended so you ain't playing realistically dude apart from in your own head.

The "realism is the game settings".
I'm sure the ww2 subs had the 1800x time compression ..to help with realism.

Its something useful to help ppl that don't use map or the magic intercept tool.

Not sure i understand what word triggerd you ..maybe"realism" .. not sure how would you call it otherwise.. the difficulty settings from the game start cranked to 100%?

It wasn't, no.

You can find this information in the USN maneuvering board manual from 1941. It wasn't new information at the time either. If you're comfortable with a maneuvering board, you can see the methods used from case 9 to case 11.

I was actually surprised since my intention wasn't to trigger anybody with "!realism" claims.
i'm fully aware it's a game and i play it as such.
Now we had a discussion few days ago about not using the intercept magic tool.. so point was to show that you ..can do some informed guessing about the location of the enemy based only on the hydro bearing.

That's all..
Anywho ..it's free.. use it ..or don't

i also use the 4 bearing method. why not? you can just as well use the 3 bearing method, if you can do 4 you can do 3... but does it matter whether before 45 or after 45... it's up to you. good work bro.
