UBOAT

Type IX Submarine
I do not own information what developers have there, but the question has been worried for a very long time. When the long -awaited type of IX Uboats Submarine. You can’t imagine how people are waiting for this series of sharks. I understand that it is necessary to make a campaign for distant swimming and the like, but Karl, 5 years have passed since the beginning of development, and the appearance of type IIA and(b) gave hope that not only the 7th series would be awarded. Add a working boat even without campaigns, I think in 2024 it is not a problem to make a working model, like DLS and people will immediately buy it for $ 10-15. And for developers, this is enjoying good support. Please do the type IX. And then I will no longer live before her release, thanks to everyone.

That's two in the last hour, can we go for a third?

DWS, the devs, began working on the new subs in the summer of 2023. It took them almost till the start of the 2024.1 Beta to finish them. So around a year, give or take. A Type IX is still far away. That is not counting for other 3D work.

I guess, we will not see a Type IX this year.

While I would be interested in a IX, I still wonder what it would bring to the table in terms of capabilities. As of now, range isn't too much of an issue if we stick to the north atlantic/caribbean with milk cows for refuelling. Of course, should the Indian ocean ever open up then that would change things.

Any info on historical capabilities on the IX we MIGHT see? Like, sensors and suchlike.

kandnil, First of all, aesthetics and aesthetics again. Secondly, in a game called "Uboat" there should be these boats, 7 were for medium range, 9 for long voyages - of which there were approximately at least half. I understand that it takes time to create and test, but at least make a working model, without campaigns. The Indian and Caribbean campaigns are later, because this is a ton of work, and given that it will only be released in 2.5 years. To speed up work, it is good to increase the staff of IT developers

Don't get me wrong. Like I said, I would be interested in a IX DLC but if it offered something the VIIs don't offer then I won't just buy the DLC, I would shout as loud as I can "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"

well the type VII range in game is a bit extreme at the moment... adding the type IX could be an occasion to rebalance it, furtheremore the type IX its a bit faster both in emersion than submerged and has a 105mm deck gun an extra stern tube and 22 torpedoes... it would allow for much longer patrols and some very cool missions imho

I understand you perfectly, and I double, hold a glass of beer! I mean the same thing, the problem is one. In time, if they do what we are talking about, 2.5-3 years will pass, progress is moving extremely slowly judging by the pace since 2018. No matter how sad it may be. Therefore, I am a supporter of the opinion, hire new programmers to help, and we will try to support you so as not to wait 3 years. Using the DLS method with small contents, but I will be incredibly happy to buy in half a year the full DLS with new functions, as you said, new areas and a boat (but this will never happen) so quickly at least

According to the manual, Type IX submarines are probably there, but only as supply ships. Which is a pity, because contrary to the manual, Type IXs were not only supply ships, but also made enemy voyages up to the Indian Ocean and even reached Japan and were very successful. For example: U66 destroy 33 ships with a total of 196,928 GRT on its 10 hostile voyages. Would be nice to have playable Type IX and TypeXXI in the future.

The Type XI would offer nearly the same gameplay experience as the modified Type VII(22 torpedoes, more TT, deeper crush depth, etc.), so I don't see any point in adding it to the game, let alone making it a DLC. What I would like to see is the Type XXI, but from a balance perspective, it would be too overpowered imo. Submarines of this type could stay submerged for 2-3 days at an average speed of 4-8 knots, and recharging the batteries with a snorkel took only 3-5 hours. While previous models were designed for surface traveling, the XXI was specifically designed for underwater operations. Another issue is that these submarines were launched in 1945 and never saw combat missions, which would be difficult to implement into the game (spending a few in-game months waiting for the war to end doesn't sound fun)
However, the gameplay experience with these submarines would be very different from previous types, and the developers mentioned they would release it as a DLC, which makes sense given the scope of work involved. Type XI could be also added as a small part of this DLC

I would have no problem supporting this team if they released a type IX boat as a paid dlc. Great job Devs , your hard work is very much appreciated .

How about a TypeXXI "alternative History" DLC that puts the Uboat & crew as a nemesis to the soviet Union/USA in 1950's cold war scenarios. Before you dismiss the idea...remember we have "diving helmets" for wreck diving LOL

Just add Type XXI and... TAKE MY MONEY!
