Sunk ships are not registered
Hi,

I've just played the Scapa Flow mission and was able to sink both the Royal Oak as well as the escort carrier anchored behind her. However, I only got credit for the Royal Oak in the mission debriefing. Something like that had happened before, when I sank two freighters while on combat patrol but was only credited with one. Is this a known issue?

Did you actually sink them 100% or were they still buoyant?

I saw them sink and eventually vanish under the water, with only lifeboats remaining at their position(s).

This is my situation from my current career. I first came there on an IID, hit a CVE with my last torpedo, it caught fire, then my watch officer said "they're sinking" and in his contact list the Pegasus showed up as a wreck. But it didn't count.

I was doing some testing hitting oak from different AOB and distances
Sometimes if there are't fires on board .. there is a small chance it will just float with a minuscule slither of hp left.
Crew run away, but NOT dead. You don't get mission end till the ship is technically a wreck.. i had to come back and send another fish to sink it.
Make sure its sinking.

The only time i've got less rewards in fights is when another friendly sub hit the ship and sink it.
You get participation credits ..but it doesn't show in the mission debriefing.

If they haven't sunk the ship completely and it's still afloat, your ship's engineer (or gunner) can steal the kill from them.

It's most likely who has the kill shot.
But i have experienced even 2 friendly subs engaging the same contact i was ambushing.

i usually try to spot them then send them on an outward path away.. so i can get my kills in peace.

you never get credit for any CVs in this game...
I've sunk like 10 CVs since 2019, and they never award you anything.
They don't even count towards the tonnage war, which make it ridiculous!
IT'S A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AIR CRAFT CARRIER!
SURELY IT MADE A DENT IN THE TONNAGE WAR!!!!

When I see them near a convoy, I think two things - goodbye predictable and precise targeting and hello escort and fun.

It's not true, in the beta I got credits for it, although less than for Oak.
But no warship takes part in a tonnage war, and rightly so.

You sir are very much right. It is a bug i could replicate.
A had a save from scapa from the testing so i shot at the carrier.
Nothing registered when it died.

they don't register. you don't get rewards in currency.
They literally just register as sunk in the briefing and that's it.
The tonnage doesn't count. The reward in currency is not given.
it's stupid no matter how you look at it.
I just sank a 35000t ship, with probably like 2000 crew on board and maybe 40+ airplanes on it....
NO REWARD FOR YOU HERR KAPITAN

That's not quite true. When you sink them, you send a sinking report and it costs a lot of credits.
The briefing calculates the main objective and takes into account the cargo tonnage only.

You don't get the option to send the ..sinking report.
It's like they don't exist.

I remember in previous versions of the game that they ware counted so unsure of what changed.

So how much currency did you get rewarded for sinking an Illustrious carrier?

I can't remember exactly now. Oak gave me 31,000, Pegasus - more than 10,000, but that's not certain.
