You do realize it's a game where you can easily cheat yourself from the start into the best possible gear available.. no matter how much devs would try to stop you from doing so?
And that is also perfectly acceptable since its a single player game on which you decided to spend money to buy to enjoy a few hours every now and gain.

Well, they don't give you VIID and VIIC/41 right on the 1st September 1939, which means that there is at least SOME thought and consideration by the devs about historical accuracy that went into this game. Which means that hopefully they can up their standards a bit and fix this oversight.
I'm sure you can always cheat and use the console commands to get the best U-boat to win the game, so no harm done to your playstyle.
