Find AA Guns

So I've replayed this mission now about five times, gotten in and out of the port multiple times undetected at periscope depth, with officers on both scopes, and nothing. Legit nothing happens.

We've not spotted a single AA gun any time.

What on earth does this mission want me to do?

Are you manually using the scope to spot the guns? That’s what you need to do.

You can cheat by flying around the port with the N button to access free cam. Then reposition your sub so you can see it. Make sure you actually use the UZO/periscope manually.

Get on your scope, zoom in and scan the shoreline. As your wire passes over the AA gun emplacements, you will see a yellow circle appear over each one you spot. Spot 4 and the mission is complete. It is possible to scan the shoreline and not "see" an AA gun if you are not zoomed in sufficiently.

There’s a yellow gun icon on it. It’s tiny but you’re doing it correctly

At a distance the icon is massive

Yeah, that one appears to be "Spotted" by the little yellow AA circle you see in your screenshot. Now move along to find the other 3. As you spot each one, you should see your mission goals update from 0/4 located to 1/4 located and so on. When you find all 4, the mission is complete.

Yeah, but it dosnt count, it still says 0/2 for me.

Hmmm... is that an AA gun or artillery possibly? I would've thought it would count. AA might be a smaller caliber.

Yeah, seemed a longshot. I'd maybe just return to port and leave that side mission as unaccomplished. Maybe report as a bug too.

Update : I decided to look for the 2nd AA gun before leaving for home, and as soon as i spotted the 2nd AA gun the mission completed, so i guess it just dosnt update before both were spotted... thank you again for the help everyone :)

Jumping in on here with the same question and will try to manually spot. I did fly around in N mode but found nothing.. I didn't try this yet so thanks everyone for posting! Love this community!

Of course its an AA, .lol can't you tell? Apparently there was a past bug about this and sounds like you should report this with F11.


"There does exist a bug where you cannot "tag" the AA guns if you are trying to continue a saved game where you had received the orders to identify the AA guns but decided to save the game first, then went and had some dinner, came back and loaded the saved game.

You will never tag the AA with that save game.

However, if you complete the spy drop-off, get said mission, and sail within periscope range of the port. you should be able to look around and find AA guns ranging from just outside the port to next to the docks that become tagged with a Diamond icon when you hover over them the first time.

So - SaveGame = No Taggy for u
NoSaveGame = Use the Forc-- er, periscope, Luke. "
