In the next patch we are updating to DLSS 3.7, but without a frame generation (it's not yet supported in the engine).
Would it be possible to add DLAA (DLSS with native resolution)?
Im playing at 1440p and have a lot of recources left but I dislike the TAA and FXAA blur alot.
Here's a pretty good video with all the presets near each other, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKveWcAGqHo
C and E are my preferred ones, C was the one I used before. E is a pretty recent one afaik and for some reason I started using it, can't really remember why..... But can't say I have any major issues with ghosting.
EDIT: Actually looking at the video's first example again in fullscreen I now remember. C has shimmering which E and F reduce really well, F however has the ghosting but E is a pretty good sweetspot.
The shimmering can be really bad in some spots on the uboat textures with grates.
Those presets are made by dlsstweaks tool as far as I know (from the exposed parameters). They are not something intrinsic to DLSS effect, so it's hard to tell which preset is the closest to what we have set.
Hmm I'm not that familiar with how the presets work but I do think they are from Nvidia. Here's a link from their blog which talks about them.
https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/nvidia-dlss-updates-for-super-resolution-and-unreal-engine/
You are right. Since the game is using the NVidia's default, then according to this article, we probably have Preset D for Performance/Balanced/Quality and Preset F for Ultra Performance.
Hmm ye, there's a reason I'm using dlsstweaks myself to change it. First reason is of course to use DLAA instead of quality so I'm not really upscaling. 4090 can handle it.
The second issue was that there was a excessive amount of ghosting, especially on the map. If you want an example, look at this time bookmark on the video I posted above: https://youtu.be/DKveWcAGqHo?t=10
Just pause the video here at pretty much any point during the example with the ships flying past. On Preset D we are seeing massive streaks after the ships. This effect is greatly minimized with C E F. All said this was the worst issue I had with the default DLSS especially on the map tools and and when using time acceleration on the map. Lots of ghosting streaks.
The third issue I found was shimmering, this one is really to give a good example of without recording one of from uboat but it's generally seen around highly detailed symmetrical things or lines. I found one example on a video here:
https://youtu.be/oMWa0zIvXmY?t=134
You have to look at the chain fence thing, the symmetrical chain links has some graphical artifacts that "shimmer". This same issue could be seen on the gratis on the uboat on the flooring of it ontop of it whatever the correct term of it is called. It can be quite annoying, using DLAA or even quality helps this a lot already but balanced and performance can be very bad.
So ye E -> F -> C for me at least.
Lastly, this is not a thing is so not high priority compared to a lot of things since it can be fixed with dlsstweaks but I just want to say: The game does look amazing overall.
Also, if anyone has increased blur or issues, use your Nvidia Control Panel to enable sharpening in the per-game settings, I've found 0.55 strength and 0.12 film helps to clear things up, at least on my 15in laptop (1080P) screen Lol
