UBOAT

Historical amount of patrols?
so i couldnt find anything but i know there are alot of people here in this community who have alot of knowledge so i think its best to ask here:

usually a patrol takes me 4-6 days and i only stay at port to refill for 1 day. after 5 patrols i let the crew have a vacation. so in 3-4 months i get like 15 patrols. how many ships i sink? sometimes 4, other times 0. i prefer having my crew save back in the harbour than sinking ships, so sometimes i let ships go even if i could sink them, i am not a good soldier but a great kaleun.
but back to patrols, i think i once read that a uboat usually had like 15 patrols total but i have no clue. so what is historically accurate because i have the feeling even the tonnage goals in campaign is way too much for a single uboat?

I think there is a misunderstanding. U-Boats did not go on Patrouille (patrol). This was something the S-Boats did for example. A U-Boat went on a "Feind Fahrt". It was outfitted, assigned to an Area and there they stayed til they ran out of ammo or fuel or needed intensive repairs. This could take several months. Some U-boats went all the way down to Aruba.
At the end of the war U-Boats even went on missions to Argentina and Japan. Most of the time submerged.

In game it's just how it is. Yes in some cases 250.000 tons sound maybe much. But with every solved campaign come great benefits. With the crew it's not a huge impact. Just keep them well fed and you can stay offshore till their degeneration reaches -20 morale.
When you come back and send them into vacation that's the best time for research and development because it goes up to 85% faster.

If a campaign annoys you just do something different like the Atlantic missions.
But keep in mind whem a campaign runs out it's impossible to get the benefit.

Most patrols averaged around 28 days, some were longer if in a remote area, and some shorter if very successful or the Uboat needed repairs.

Feindfahrt = Enemy or hostile journey/trip

That about sums it up. An operation (journey) to search for the enemy and carry out predefined actions.

its Feindfahrt - one combined word

Feind = enemy
Fahrt = run / trip / tour

a "run for enemies" would be a good translation I guess.

YESS... i always try not to use words like Rhabarberbarbarbarenbartbarbier or Rindfleischettiketierungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz.
In an international setting you have to keep it simple.:steamhappy:

Probably longer than 28 days on average, but may depend on the individual submarine. The U-96 had 11 trips from 2 weeks to 40-50 days.

Have a look at wikipedia, for example U96. Every patrol is listed. The 4. patrol lastet 41 days, the 2. only 14 days.
