[BUG?] All officers sleeping, unable to wake up
Just noticed this after updating today - successfully completed two missions of my continuing campaign. But on my third mission, my officers won't wake up once they get tired enough to put themselves to bed. I've tried keeping someone awake as long as I can, going to Action Stations/Alarm, etc. But once everyone gets too tired, their icon greys out with ZZZZs and they can't be reactivated. So my sub cruises around but can't see anything or react to enemies about.

That's because you burned them out past exhaustion. Keep an eye on the horizontal bar below their image card that indicates their level of exhaustion. Make sure they remain in the blue zone. When you see the bar dropping into the yellow/tan level, give the officer coffee or send him to rest.

Set up their schedule so they rest regularly at intervals. 6-on/6-off, 4-on/4-off usually works well.

As another tip, be sure to deactivate alarms when they're no longer necessary. Forgetting to deactivate an alarm and then going into time compression is a very easy way to burn out officers. If you're staring at the map, you won;t realize they're still at station and growing tired as compressed time passes.

@Sabre-One - no, this was definitely beyond that. I've got a fair bit of time put into the game so far, so I've set up schedules and rotating watches for the officers. But this was the first time I've seen everyone go down and their bar doesn't replenish no matter how long they sleep for.
And yesterday I saw how an engineer was so tired under high time compression that a message appeared about his injury and he was treated by a radio operator.

Assign 4-hour shifts so no one will get tired.

Seems there may be something going on here. I haven't had all officers getting burned out at the same time as the OP, but I have noticed them getting tired much more quickly since the new update.

So am I the only one that takes hundreds of cups of coffee on each patrol ?

All my shifts, except for the captain-navigator, duplicate each other’s responsibilities. on schedule 6/6.

Understood, I guess that there are multiple ways of playing this game.
I never use the Schedule or Tab keys, but manually control all of the Officers.

I do too. Exactly the same, except for my radio officers which I rotate on 4/4. But I'm also noticing officers getting tired quicker since the latest patch.

I also experimented with the number of hours, but came to the conclusion that the less often they change, the less spam about the lack of sailors in the galley, cleaning and bridge. And I have not yet seen situations where they do not have enough hours to rest, except for the initial stage, when there are fewer officers and more responsibilities.
True, I played very little in the last patch (and got injured officer, presumably from fatigue)

I set officers on 6 hour shifts and they do fine. One thing I have noticed though that will lead to exhaustion... Pay attention to the status of the officer in terms of whether or not their Direct Command mode is enabled or not.

I notice that after engagements, if I toggle OFF the direct command mode, everyone returns to normal assigned schedules and tasks. If I forget and leave this mode ON, in 100% mode, it can lead to officers not sleeping and working themselves to exhaustion.

For whatever reason, I had not really focused on this toggle in the past. I suspect it has been the primary reason why my officers seemingly would not follow the schedules I set for them.

Additionally, that "Anchor Icon" command mode has 3 states. Dark anchor = off duty, Gold Anchor = on duty, gold anchor with background lit-up = Direct Command Mode. Notice the mouse-over for this icon will also tell you that toggling it to off will allow your officers to return to normally scheduled tasks.

Now my schedules work wonderfully, and I can assign generic sailors to my engineer and navigator for the fuel savings buff and everything works auto-magically in accel-time.

I am experiencing this now ever since coming back to port after getting my teeth kicked in.

Ran out of spare parts, had to have an officer assigned to manually slow leak 80% whole way home. Got to port. Saved. Since that return to port, my Officers Schedules in the crew > schedules tab are entirely blank (everything). When they go to sleep for first time in a cruise now, they black out and stay that way regardless of how I have the schedules set and how much time passes. I also cannot manually send them to sleep before hand.

Have loaded several different times and tried a few things differently in port before heading out and always same result. The go to sleep and stay asleep until boat gets lost. Portraits are greyed out and unselectable with zzz. What a great campaign up until!

Did you try switching to a different sub and back? That might jolt their factory reset.
Or removing and adding them back to the crew?
