Ran out of fuel issue...
On the enigma mission on my 3rd patrol I ran out of fuel and battery within two sea squares of the base. I asked for resupply at least 10 times as I was heading home and instead the game let my men die of starvation and disease not far from home port. Never was killed by the enemy but it took around 35-45 days for my entire crew to finally die off. Not realistic at all. All the more stupid when it would have been an easy resupply in real life. So warning to everyone out there...NEVER even get close on running out of fuel. Likely you would all die even if two feet from docking. LOL And I also discovered Spanish and Irish ports also are a no go if looking to refuel. Shoot I just might have made it if I did not waste some fuel going into those two ports.

Resupply only happens if you have a milkcow. Otherwise it does nothing

If you are running out of fuel, you probably are running at high speed, not having sailors assisting the engineer/navigator, or all of them combined

It's actually not hat tricky to do.
Just set up a dive schedule 5 hours down, one hour up, speed at half ahead and you can do the whole mission with half a tank leftover.

Even in a IIA.

I ran out of battery and diesel on the Aruba mission. Should have gone kleine, but did the westward leg on medium speed. My bad? I think if you complete the Aruba mission successfully, you are awarded a milk cow.

Charging battery consumes fuel though, doesn’t it? You’re better off travelling at gear 2 diesel for most of your journey

Agreed, 2nd gear or whatever it's called is optimal for regular operations. The trip to Aruba is so far I think it calls for 1st gear and sailors for your motorhead. Haven't tried it again yet, but will soon.

You can get another milky cow by minelaying off the coast of Africa.

I did not notice an increase in fuel consumption, but I did notice an increase in radius when using a 2h/2h dive schedule.

I think electric motor surfaced full flank speed (10 knots IID) althought you have to recharge battery combined with low diesel gear is a better trade off

The law of conservation of energy doesn't like this though...

In silent hunter, when charging the batteries, the speed at the same telegraph positions decreased. I didn't notice this here. Logic speaks of the law of conservation of energy, but is this implemented in the game? We probably need more tests to be more confident.

I detailed this in another thread: instead of 2700A at full speed (45 units in UBOAT) driving on electrics consumes 7 units, equivalent to 420 amps. For the game this works fine, but yeah it's broken physics.

It's not necessary to do it like you explain. In UBOAT the engine's available output is fully utilized at all speed orders for both charging and driving.

Yeah and that's why this cheesy range enhancing exploit exists. I bet you can visit New York with a type IIA through this nonsense.

The reason is just that when you switch to electric, you get an extra push from God. The propeller power is just so much less!

If you stop and charge engines your fuel usage drops to -1 and it takes less than an hour to recharge your batteries. Definitely cheesy
