Missing Cook Issue
If someone can help m,e understand if this is a bug or not, it would be greatly appreciated.
So here I am on my Type IIa and I have all the crew and Officers situated with what they need to do. But I keep getting the " Missing Cook" warning which gives me a penalty to food consumption and discipline. Not enough to really matter but it seems that who ever the cook is, he keeps wandering away from the galley. Is this a bug or did I not assign the crew correctly? How to I STOP that crew member from walking away?
Thank You

It gets worse when you get a bigger boat I've gone a full year now without a cook and 5 stacks of food lasts only a week

I give cooking an increased priority of 6.

Select a sailor, make him the fattest one on the boat with that white floppy sailor cap and create a cook shift just for him and assign him to it. Mine looks like:
On duty: 0500-0700, 1100-1300, 1700-1900, 2300-0100 (this gives him half of a 24 hour period for food prep and cooking.)

I've created a schedule and duty hrs as you describe however, there is not an option for cooking for the enlisted crew members, only the officers. Thoughts?

I get the missing cook message pretty much every time I surface but it always disappears itself after a minute or so.

A changing shift, as well as a change in dive/surface modes, often brings a message about the absence of a cook or the absence of a watch. Especially if you are on high time compressions.
What is most annoying is that these statuses accumulate and begin to change badly for morality, which does not happen on low TS.
Now in the new version I noticed that the entire crew ignores the galley.
If you assign an officer, he will start blinking between cooking and waiting and will just stand there.
According to the schedule, the sailors generally stopped going to the galley (until today this was all ok).
Besides restarting your career, does anything else work for this?
I am now off the coast of the USA and without a cook my food supplies will run out very quickly.

Galley broken now?

I get a missing cook when I submerge. It’s great for bringing moral down to help find cowards and Seawolves.
My galley is now always empty, regardless of submersion/surface. I also tried restarting the game. There is no cook.
Can anyone else confirm the loss of the ability to have a cook in the galley, if the save of the previous version was not from the base, but at sea?
And is this possible when leaving the base if you continue your earlier career?

Alarm on/off and cook return.

I do have the same issue: For some reason, neither the crew mates nor the officer, that can cook, do man the galley.
My guess is, that it is related to the "silent run" mode. Maybe the galey is switched unaccessible, when you turn on "silent running", but is not switched accessible after turning the "silent running" mode off again (on programme code level).
This is a severe bug. I will not play the game, untill this is fixed.
Nevertheless: All my respect to the developers, you do a great job with the game!
