Food calculations. How to?
How can I calculate how much food I need for n days at sea? Will the type of food matter?

If advanced team management is enabled in the settings, and food is enabled in the difficulty settings. Then, when you move the mouse cursor or glance (FPP) at the galley, it says how many days of food there is in the galley and in general on the boat.

Food has modifiers to morality. Fruits and vegetables should prevent sickness

I guess it depends, but my own estimate is 5 to 7 unit of food per day, and increases depending on variety of ingredients in the pot

Really? Is this always a thing or new?

The description of fruits and vegetables says about vitamins. This is what prevents diseases. I have never encountered diseases before, but many people write that diseases have finally appeared in the tutorial. So this mechanics should work now, I think.

A variety of products are needed. Vitamins are a must.

If you hover over the galley, You'll see the estimation for current consume rate in days

Myth, not implemented. There is no nutrition, vitamin system in game. The datasheets list these values but they have been there since 2019.

As far i understood/expierenced diversity of food only gives a morale boost, i never had any sickness on board.
But 4 different food types in the galley does keep the morale higher as with just one food type, but how much it really influences, that i cannot really answer with numbers, only that morale doesn't drop to a point its concerning, and they keep it longer too under stress (but eventually it drops too ofc)

Near the end of my patrol I have:
In the galley: 100 preserved pork
In storage: 19 dried fish, 2 preserved pork, 75 vegetables
I'm told this is good for 16 days.

If I add up all the units, that means consumption is 11-ish per day
Crew size is 25 with 5 officers included.

As a sidenote, I find it a bit silly that the food is consumed in the order they're stored in. This means that my crew is happy about food variety and the presence of fruit/vegetables but never actually eats anything but potatoes.

I had sickness yesterday. Had an accident hitting the seafloor in the westside of Scotland. On officer hurt and had to lay in bed for the whole trip home. To few beds and micro the rest periods was hell. On the east cost of Scotland I was empty of food (Type IIA) at this point hunger and sickness started to kick inn. I was a bit fed up with the micromanagment at just prayed for the best and x15.000 speeded the trip home, one sailor died. Anyway got message about sickness and got a thermometer icon.

One of my sailers got sick of tuberculosis (or was it scurvy? Can't recall, lol ;b) the other day and was off duty for the rest of the trip. Could've also been just a random event, don't know but I didn't have any fruits or vegetables with me this time.

Tubi is a random event. One of my campaigns officer got it and the game said not to worry then he died in 1 week.

Once I had a mission to deliver fruits to the other sub. I like to believe that they need vitamins and I always buy fruits and vegetables.

I always stock 30 of four foods in the gally, one being fruit or vegtables. and then stock them all up as much as possible before leaving. Maybe I have an extra slot with free food to give it away to sailors I sunk to the bonus reputation. The fruits I stock because sometimes there have been events where other Uboats want fruits from you, because of sickness, it doesn't effect your crew but there is this event where the AI needs vitamins.

And evry 10 days or so I check the gally, because the AI wont fill it up properly, they just put the first stack in the inventory in the galley and you lose the moral boost. But usually if you stock that amount of food your fuel runs out long before your food does.

yep ...back to the original question . Fill your gally and all possible stacks to 100. While they carry it the store gets more of food but not every sort.
