UBOAT
"Clear The Bridge!" Command Feature?
Maybe someone has modded this before but it would be awesome if this were added to the game some day. If it has been modded, I couldn't find it.
Could we PLEASE get a "Clear the bridge" command? Perhaps somewhere in the Shift menu.
I'm sure people have encountered this before. If you're surfaced but know you're about to take some damage, whether depth charge, collision, or gunfire, I'd rather have the option to just tank the damage instead of risking sailors going overboard. I don't want to issue a dive order because you'd want the ballast tanks to remain empty and stay on the surface for the speed increase.
Maybe the same for a torpedo attack on the surface using the attack periscope, and prohibiting sailors from using the watch stations or guns. Basically, just a command to prohibit anyone from going topside to prevent sailors going overboard or getting injured.

Opinions?

You can do both of those situations now, not as easily as clicking a button though. If you have an officer on watch you can send him below or to bed. Then you can go into the Crew tasks and remove watch from the shift, I usually just remove it from both shifts because I don't want them to switch at shift change anyway,

I always run Gibraltar with just me standing up there. As intended.

Retire the "decks awash" button and make it do this instead?

decks awash serves the critical purpose of letting you use diesel engine and hydrophone at the same time without snorkels.

Seems like an exaggeration to call it critical. Most often your boat just undercuts and you end up underwater on the electrics anyway.

However, how would you feel if I told you hydrophones used to work on the surface? I mean, they're 4.5m deep underwater, why wouldn't they work, right?

Sorry Decaf, the hydrophones ( at least on the Type VII ) are on TOP of the forward deck. It’s that thing that looks like a capital T.
So, hydrophones should not work at all until the boat is submerged.

That's only the KDB. The GHG and Balkon were side/around the hull mounted and (partly) below the waterline.

Every U-boat had a Sonar array around the dive planes, so underwater, these worked on the surface at a limited range.
Some U-boats had a rotating Sonar on the deck for a brief time, these were removed later because they were problematic.

Deck awash can also be used to quickly replenish air without having to blow tanks, I'd rather keep it as is and have this thing separate from it

Before the 'beta' when decks awash worked OK. I "never once" had a time when my hydrophone worked at 'decks awash'. judging from alot of your recent posts It's very clear that "you" do not like this option. Well there is another option, just don't use it.
Previous dev'logs from a few months back said that they were aiming at a variation of game options for different stiles of play.
Looking at the the 'posts' it seems there are people out there including myself who do like this option (when it worked properly).
There are a few options in this game that I'm not too keen on, but I'm not going to try and get the dev's to scrap them because I don't like them.
The game is called UBOAT, not "you"BOAT.

No need to be so protective lol
Just don't install the mod that will make use of the free real estate taken up by a redundant function.

Sorry for necroing but this was the first result when looking this up. Does anyone have advice on this? I was trying to haul ass on the surface away from a warship that sighted me, given I had a range advantage already. But on the off chance they hit me with a shell, I wanted nobody up top. I ordered my watch to the periscope, but regular sailors still came up and started rubbernecking with binoculars.
just remove the watch skill from the crew skills. then they won't come on top and will only be used by the officers on schedule with the relevant skill or your direct orders.

literally takes two seconds to open the crew skills and mouse scroll on the watch skill to 0(zero)

again this will REMOVE any crew from the watch station from the shift, which i assume is the thing you want it to happen.
