Torpedo loading and maintenance order

I just reinstalled the game, a fresh and clean installation, and even without any mods activated, there is no option displayed when I click TAB to order one of my mechanics to load or warm up a torpedo! The only way to load a torpedo is to directly take control of the mechanic and load a torpedo himself. On the other hand, it is impossible to make him warm up a torpedo other than to assign him the task by giving it a high priority. Anyone else have this problem?

which officer has what priority to load torpedoes? Does this officer execute direct orders or does he still have enough energy?

If you hold TAB you'll get the option to warm or maintain torps for each engineer if you hover the cursor over, or select an engineer by clicking on him, go to section view, click the icon at the tubes and drag and drop the torps to the empty tubes.
That's how I do it at least, dunno if there's a quicker way.
Sadly loading tubes isn't an option in the TAB menu afaik.

My weapon's officer. The one whose responsibility it is. Fresh game, at the start, full energy, and cannot take direct orders to reload or warm the torpedo. About a month ago he could do it, now he can't. 😔

That is what I am saying. Before I could give a direct order via the TAB key to reload or warm up a torpedo and now this option no longer appears in the menu. All other options like going to the radio station or holding the immersion are still present.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an expert at this game, I've been playing it extensively for several years in 100% realistic mode and I know every single function in this game. I just don't understand why I can no longer do something I did just a month ago. Have the developers removed this feature since then?

Hm maybe wrong officer or wrong assignment? I'm def no expert (lol) but I figured only my engineers can maintain torps, no commanders nor any other.
Also blue light (silent mode) prevents torp loading (wich makes sense in a way)
But yeah maybe something changed, I'm only 50-ish hours into it. ;)

You could never order to reload a torpedo via the tab menu.

Nevertheless you're able to order the maintenance. The maintenance won't be available if a) your tubes are empty (which they are at game start iirc) or b) all torpedos are maintained and have a sufficiently long remaining time having the maintained status.

Maybe from now on, but before I was perfectly capable of giving an order via the TAB key to order the loading or warming up of a torpedo. Something has changed since then. My tubes are full, and the torpedoes are cold.

No, it's not about the "wrong officer", or wrong assignment. And no, there is no silent mode either..

IMO the Crew management and the Torpedo loading/maintenance are still a bit rough, They need a bit more work to be less annoying.

Any officer on your U-boat can load torpedoes. Use the Crew, Tasks screen to make it a priority. Mechanics are the only officer that can do maintenance on torpedoes (in first person for sure). The Crew, Tasks screen allows you to assign the torpedo maintenance task
to non mechanic officers. I'm not sure if that works or if the non mechanic officers ignore the task even though it has been assigned to them.

Not having the option to load torpedo tubes from the TAB menu seems strange. The TAB menu seems to be nexus of all the orders that can be issue to the crew

It's very annoying because I can no longer give a direct order to warm up a torpedo, in order to have a "freshly hot" torpedo. My weapons engineer will only act based on the task priority chart, which can take time. And you, can you give a direct order via the TAB key to order your engineer to warm up a torpedo?

TAB key orders to warm torps def works for me and for any streamer I've watched so far.
If that's not an option in your menu then there's def something screwed I assume.

If at all loading via tab menu was only possible with mods. This hasn't been a vanilla feature.

If you don't see the option to maintain the torpedos your save might be compromised by some mod leftovers. For example starting a modded game and later just deactivating them can cause things like this. Follow the troubleshooting steps especially the clearing of the cache and temp folders and start a completely fresh game.

So are you saying that you dont see the options that my Horst Weber has here where he can do maintenance on Torpedos V, I and II? are your tubes flooded? or do they need to be loaded first? the option to do maintenance on a tube wont show if its flooded and obviously they can do maintenance on a tube if there is no torpedo in it.

As far as loading torpedos i've only been playing since Dec and i've never had a TAB menu option to load torpedos. Someone mentioned that you could never do it though so theres that. To load a torpedo into a tube without having to go into first person mode on an engineer do this. Go to section view/cutaway side view of your sub and move the camera to the torpedo tube you want to load. Left click the portrait of the engineer you want to do the loading. Now left click the icon for the torpedo tube in the section view. This brings up the torpedo tube and storage interface. Left click and drag a torpedo from storage to a tube.

Problem solved. I just found the culprit. This is the “Let it fall” mod. This sh1t had left a mark even after uninstalling it. There was a cache that I forgot to empty. It took several trials and errors before I put my finger on it. I would like to say a big thank you to you all for your help and patience. Thanks again! 🙏
