UBOAT
on alert, no torpedo reloading
Hi all,

I recently got back into the game and I'm encountering a problem that I didn't have before:

during a fight, on alert, the mechanic responsible for reloading the torpedoes does not reload the torpedoes and does not maintain them. he'll monitor the damage instead.

But outside of combat, there is no problem.

I tried to change the priorities but without success.

Have you ever encountered this difficulty?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Perhaps it’s because he is assigned to rest rather than work at the time? Even in an alarm, the most he’ll do is damage control

I thought this was as intended? I do not want my torpedo loaders loading/maintaining automatically when enemies are nearby because it makes noise, but I would like them to do it if I am in a safe area (might as well always be heated and full).

In my previous save file, i have one engineer with a schedule of “do anything” solely for torpedo load + maintenance. When i want to hide, i will force him to depth keeping so he will not do torpedo tasks

In my new save file, it seems to my observation that an engineer who’s schedule is “rest only” doesn’t seem to respond to his task priorities.

I know in the devlogs that the alarm system will change in the next update so torpedo loading can be postponed, though

Mine goes either way...if i dont assign that mechanic to a task during alert then he auto assigns to something. When torps get fired he will go to reload but i would prefer that they dont autoreload torps for the reason Mono124 mentioned. So i usually end up manually assigning my engineers their tasks when alert first goes out and during alert. If i want to risk loading a torp during alert i'll manually take control of the engineer and run them to the torp room and have them load the tube.

But i've also had an alert go out and engineers get autoassigned to stations and when torps get fired neither engineer will go to reload. What ends up happening in this case is the alert will end my mechanic will go back to what they were doing, and after their next rest they wake up and go to reload the torp tubes.

Maybe it has something to do with what the mechanic is doing when the alert comes out? were they on their normal shift at the time? or were they off shift and resting?

Thank you for your answers :-) ,

It’s true that in my assigned tasks, I indicate “work” and “rest”. I will change by "Work" and "free"

I will come back and tell you if that changes anything.
