cant figure out the controls
so i seen lots of tutorial videos but cant seem to grasp how to engage and destroy ships with torpedos specifically. does anyone have any advice or tutorials that are step by step and which leave nothing out especially not leaving out keyboard commands to press to bring up certain menus and options.

For tutorials you can look under Guides. Here's a link to Lite_ly Salted's video on YT (I like his voice and delivery style) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68NgMW10sew

Here's my two cents on basic, auto targeting:

1) You need to lock on a target. In FPV through the UZO or periscope you will see a 'Lock' icon appear once you have the ship in your view. Locking on target is still a bit quirky. Sometimes you LC on the mouse, or you press E. If nothing happens, keep moving the mouse around and it'll show.
You can also lock on the target using the map. LC on any target; the target menu will appear on bottom left corner. LC on the very last active button. This will bring up whoever is able to see or hear the target, usually your hydrophone operator and an officer. If you have two officers on the scopes (attack and obs) then you have a maximum of three persons targeting.

2) Once the officers have calculated about 45-50% of the firing solution, the very last button on the same target menu (bottom left) will become available. This open up the torpedo menu. We assume that you have already warmed your torpedoes, which should appear red. Start flooding the tube(s), set the torpedo on MZ, the depth 1 m below target drought, wait until the red targeting line lines up the the boat's nose, and fire.

3) If you LC on the torpedo on the map, the torpedo menu appears on lower left. Click on the camera icon if you want to follow the torpedo to the target. I prefer doing that so if I miss I know exactly why.

I hope this is helpful, happy gamings.

Most of the abbreviations are german terms anyway. I don’t even know the full word for MZ and UZO, but it’s ridiculously easy to know it stands for “magnetic pistol” and “binoculars in the conning tower” respectively if you used deductive reasoning
