Thats like saying you should be able to smell colours.
Mines dont make noises and therefor cant be detected by the hydrophon

In this thread Ruby told me how to see the mines close to the sub.
In practice I never got to see them and blowed them with the sub when sneaking out of Scapa.
So remember to keep some repair parts for the last part of the mission.
wolf responded to the hydrophone comment...
Sonar : Just surface and turn on your lights and let everyone know you're there. Have you ever been pinged by a destroyer? That's sonar. Just like you're depth finder (remember the warning on that?). Sonar will let you know the contours of the seabed and any objects, but it is such a massive soundwave it's as anti-stealth as you can get. The UBoat's intentional designed reliance on sea charts, hydrophone, and lack of any sonar, outside of depth finder, are for the very reason of stealth.
Why can't your Uboat go about sounding like a DD on the hunt, while you try to sneak past defences and without any warning sink one of their warships? Well, now, the answer is in the question.
Let's remember how incredibly dangerous it was to be assigned to a Uboat. Reliance on less than perfectly accurate sea charts may have contributed to one or more Uboat(s) not returning home.
