UBOAT
Kriegsmarine Slide Rule
I was kinda frustrated being a veteran of silent hunter how to make things more realistic. I know they did not use TADS disk but slide rules. So I recreated the original Kriegsmarine slide rule with Dr. Robert Wolfs templates.

Here you can find. It is a stand alone HTML as I can mod that deep. If someone feels the urge to make it ingame mod let me know.
Let me know if you like or need tutorila how to use it..

I know this inside out. And love it. But in reality the TDS or back side is an addition. In teality they used slide rules and I managed to find the original here: https://m.artfoxlive.com/AuctionDetail?productId=1569269
and tried to tecreate it...

I see! When I hear "slide rule" and "uboats" my first thought always goes to the angriffsscheibe but it makes sense they would also have other slide rules on board for computation, good find!

They did not have the other side of angle finder that is a US navy development. They used regular slide rules https://www.sliderulemuseum.com/Military.htm
like here described.

So you are saying they had all the calculation discs just for decoration (Angriffsscheibe, Scheibe für Auswanderungsverfahren, Lagewinkelscheibe, Torpedorechenscheibe)?

One of the "Angriffsscheibe" they didnt use, captured from a german u-boat in WW2 is in the Royal Navy Submarine Museum.
Die deutsche Wochenschau Nr.639 shows cadets in the Marineschule (Navy Academy) useing the "Angriffsscheibe" they didnt use.

Also the picture on artfoxlive shows a DPR Nr 20/3, wich has nothing to do with torpedo calculation and sliderulemuseum also dont shows any slider rule related to torpedos.

They definatelly had torpefo disks early in war http://www.tvre.org/en/torpedo-calculating-discs
but they were replaced by TDC. But to my best knowledge the attack disk implemented in game did not have the back calculating side.

I have that one too. It is closer to a regular slide ruler but still not authentic in a way that the back TSAD computer is also their own invention. Though a very smart one...

The thing I posted is as close to the real one as you can get...

Sure, but it's just doing the maths right? doesn't matter if it's straight or circular no?

yes,.. they did not have pocket calculators :) they used this:

Because the circular slide rule of the attack discs is of specific purpose, and the one @backyourway has shown as an example used by the kriegmarine, is of general purpose (it even has an inverse scale and less decades), more difficult of use and more exact.

Yes my sliderule is a replica of the official kriegsmarine issued slide rule with one addition: the original did not have "c" inverted scale for some reason I dont understand yet...

The inverse scale ("CL" in my Artwork) is for accuracy or very long number (poor acuracy or/and few decades in the slide rule).

The slide rule I have posted is sold as "kriegsmarine". i don´t know ????

post a picture of your slide rule to see the scales
