Norwegian Escort Mission annoying failure

I have a consistent issue during an escort mission where the Type 1934 and Empire Explorer move away from the center of the route, getting so far apart from each other that I lose contact and fail the mission because of it.

No mods installed. No ships in the area detected by hydrophone.

Does anyone have any ideas on temporary fixes to complete the mission before this is fixed?

My current fix is to just execute the command Mission Stage +1 to skip the current objective

I don't think you need to be within range of German merchant and escort vessels between starting and ending points. What I did was intercept and sink British destroyers and corvettes. Use torpedoes against destroyers, sometimes corvettes if possible or use deck gun. By removing threats against German merchants on way to Norway for mission to success.

Yea you're supposed to be far away infront of the escort convoy, and kill of threats before they even get close, im talking about atleast 50km

I have the same problem, but you need to be closer to the point that indicates the Convoy on the map than to the transport ship, whether that point is over a warship or in the middle point(if it is near a destroyer you need to keep the distance and they will warn you). Either way I'm still trying to pass that mission.

You found threats? I just played that mission and didn't run into anything.

Depending on levels of missions. If the mission level is low, enemy warships, most likely just corvettes, might not appear and could be already sunken by other uboats. If mission level is medium, both destroyers and corvettes would most likely appear. I have completed Norwegian escort campaign by doing 6 escort missions because it's quicker than doing grid patrol. I have seen a German destroyer got sunken by British group but still successed the mission as long German merchants survive all the way to Norway.
