UBOAT
GPU OVER HEAT !!
Hey guys this is my first discussion post/complaint in steam,so bare with me if i make any mistakes in post.
i bought recently the UBOAT,but i think my GPU is burning very high compared to other games which have more graphics than Uboat which i played in the past.
i checked some solutions in one of the post pinned "known issues".
But i dont really find any exact solution,i also watched a youtuber says its burning so much GPU.
is there any solution recently ?
Like reducing resolution, FPS ,graphics etc
my pc spec is
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
RTX 1660 6gb, 16gb ram.
i played all high graphic games past so many years, but never felt the issue.
And also if someone can tell me how much is avg GPU usage should be (safe limit)
any help/opinion from community much appreciated.
Thanks <3

GPU useage is supposed to be at or near 100% when in game. I HAD an i7 10750H and an 1060 ti in my laptop, and it started over heating and eventually did damage the cpu. A couple folks here walked me through extensive steps to address the issue, but I think the damage was already done as the over heating continued regardless of steps taken. So I ultimately built a new desktop, to replace the laptop.

That said...yes, there are a nr of things you can do, to try and address the issue.

What is your monitors refresh rate? V-SYNC, when enabled, will try and force your games FPS to match your monitors refresh. Try capping your FPS. You can do this thru your NVIDIA Control Panel, and/or through the games FPS limiter. To do it in game, you will have to uncheck V-SYNC in order to activate the manual setting/adjustment slider.

Make sure you are NOT running in TURBO BOOST mode. Again, this will try and force the game to match your monitors refresh rate with FPS. (As I understand it anyway, and I could be mistaken)

You can always try turning down the graphics quality, though I would intuitively expect this to impact the GPU more than the cpu. (Again, I could be hugely mistaken)

Are your case fans working correctly? Make sure the case intakes are clear of obstruction. Whether air or water cooled, proper air flow is essential.

There are far more tech savvy persons here than I. No doubt, they will be along to help out.

Bring it down, no need to shout...
Does running UBOAT make your GPU exceed its TDP? No it doesn't.
Be glad it utilises the resources your hardware has.

Thanks will try lowering the FPS and check whether it consumes the same usage.
Much appreciated

Grumpy Old Dude beat me to it but he is correct, all I can do is add a little to what he's already suggested.

GPU Temperature
Many players worry about their cards overheating but sometimes this worry is unwarranted. The maximum temperature modern hardware can take is much higher than it used to be. The maximum safe operating temperature of 1000, 2000 and 3000 series Nvidia cards is 93° celcius.

But GPUs have firmware built-into them to prevent temps from ever getting that high in the form of fans (active cooling) and thermal throttling (passive cooling). If temps ever get too high for the fans to handle by themselves? Then the GPU will start reducing the amount of voltage it uses while also slowing down the performance of the card. Less volts = less heat but also less performance.

Keep an eye on your temperatures, if you notice your GPU getting close to 90° then that may be a sign that you don't have enough adequate cooling inside your computer case (or laptop) or there may be too much dust. But there's also the possibility that you are simply working your GPU too hard which leads me to the next topic:

Uncapped frame rates and frame limiters
Running any game with an uncapped framerate is never a good idea. Without a limiter, your system will stomp on the gas in its attempt to produce as many frames for you as it possibly can until it renders more frames than the motherboard can support, thus creating a bottleneck. Or it reaches a thermal cap and begins undervolting itself to reduce temperatures.

You'd be surprised how many PC users allow their hardware to produce more frames than their monitor can actually display. For instance if your monitor has a refresh rate of 60hz? Then it's absolutely pointless to let your framerate climb higher than 60fps. You'll never see those extra frames.

Work smarter, not harder
Cap your framerate at or less than your monitor's refresh rate. It will save you money on your electric bill, help save the planet, prevent your system from rendering more frames than you can actually see on your monitor and help you keep your hardware's temperatures down. I have an RTX 3070 and a monitor with a 165hz refresh rate but I still cap my frames at 60fps and my temps never climb above 55°c even when playing Cyberpunk 2077 on ultimate graphics.

As for "loss of quality" when capping frame rates, let me just say that when I built this system and stress tested it, at 1080p it avg'd 149.2 FPS on Unigine's HEAVEN on EXTREME, while at 1440p it avg'd 95.4 FPS. Even though it was a 54 FPS difference, I could visually see NO difference between the 2. (Monitor ia 165 Hz) I'm fairly certain that FPS above 60, serves no purpose unless perhaps in a competitive/professional E-Sports arena. I can run UBoat uncapped or at 60 FPS, and I see no visual difference between the 2. Bragging rights, is about all the diff it makes.

Buddy of mine is like JayzTwoCents if you watch him on YT for ex. He is a comp nerd AND a motorcycle nut like myself; which is how we became friends. Anyway, he says rocket riders with their enhanced performance bikes and comp nerds, are not all that different. They both want bragging rights on their rig. Only the definition of the rigs, is what is different.

Thanks a ton for both your suggestions gona try everything step by step.
if the problem is sorted ill update the thread also.
More than that i learned something new.
Thanks again <3

Try 30fps and see what it plays like on your system
minimum fps before difference is noticeable
quora . c o m /Whats-the-minimum-FPS-required-for-a-game-to-be-playable
remove spaces

as per
Nathan Lim

240 FPS: target frame rate for extremely competitive gaming that requires fast reflexes
144 FPS (eSport quality): target frame rate for competitive eSport games like LoL, DotA, and CS:GO
120 FPS: Very good and difficult for the layperson to distinguish any frame rates higher than this.
90 FPS: Target VR framerate as to not feel dizzy
60 FPS (Gaming PC quality): Target FPS for most games. Buttery smooth.
50 FPS: Pretty good
40 FPS: Acceptable.
30 FPS (previously console quality): Noticeably less smooth, but still playable
25 FPS (movie quality): Barely playable.
20 FPS: Very difficult to play and frame rate may prove to be a significant handicap in games.
15 FPS: what is this sh*t
10 FPS: PowerPoint is opening skyrim.pptx
5 FPS: PowerPoint has failed to open skyrim.pptx
2 FPS: Microsoft Word?

Hi bro thanks for the response
i been playing last 2 days, redcued the quality to simple and locked the FPS to 60.
Now it reduced and maintaining at 50-60c temperature.
The fan speed go high like when ship is blasted and sinking but it does reduce after that.
i tried reducing the resolution it does drop the heat to 30-40,bt i dont really liked how it look.
so sticked with my actual monitor size of 1920 x 1080 60 FPS
