Could you list your full mod list? One of them might be causing the issue. For me I noticed a problem with automated crew behavior when using the "all is deck gunner" mod. I even posted a warning about it in the comments section.

Seafloor Depth Tracker.
Everyone else seems to be operating normally resting and performing assigned duties.
I tried resetting the priority numbers for assigned tasks, no change noticed.
Are you familiar neough with the seafloor tracking mod to know if many others have seen it do that? It might have nothing to do with the mod of course
I think I heard of this issue somewhere before on the forums, but I dont remember.
So maybe its as simple as..
If you manually give them an order they wont follow the work schedule & will stay doing what you ordered them to do.
If after giving a manual order, you want to put them back on the schedule,
you will need to -
Select the officer,
RH click on the order listed at the bottom left side of the screen. it's the narrow part at the top.
Hovering over it will tell you if they are performing a manual or auto order from the schedule.
EDIT:Right clicking that seemed return him to the regular schedule. Am I being forgetful, or has it always worked this way and I just hadnt noticed? I thought if you told them to sleep, they woke up when they were fully rested and went back to automatic.
Some jobs like light switching, compressor will automatically go back on schedule & others where it makes sense they don't.
The officer with a manual order has a red/orange highlight too around their portrait.
