If you mouse iver the item there should be an a option to disable repair …. Could be one of ny mods dont know..
Want your engineer to stop repairing things automatically? Then change his role from "Mechanic" to something else using this menu here which you can find in the map view when selecting an officer or by holding the ALT key on your keyboard.

For more information on how automated officers tasks work, see my video or Lite_ly Salted's video on crew management on YouTube.
Thank you for this valuable info.
A) I do not play much in 1st person, but I like walking around the boat and looking at the different parts and components. Can you bring up the Tab menu in FPS? There should be a list of repairs available to officers.
B) Switch to side view. Regardless of what the officers are doing, you can LC on any of them, go to the repair location, RC on it, and select 'repair'.
C) If you do not want to be surprised like that, leave the 'Repairs' box for your engineers blank in the Tasks menu for officers. That way they will not rush to whatever uncritical repair they deem 'critical' at the moment. You can always hit pause during stressful situations to command people directly. The pause button is your friend.
If they're off duty but awake because of an alarm they'll follow an invisible task priority list which will usually have damage control as the most important task (for engineers). You can make them use their regular tasks by simply setting them to on duty (green/gray) for the current hour of the day and they should start repairing if the priorities are set properly.
