Difference between campaigns
Hi, apart from starting in a different port and time, are there any other differences between the campaigns?

I mean I suppose if I start a later campaign I won't be able to do some early quests / events. Is this right? Anything else?

the later you start the harder the campaign

Allied ships gain buffs based off the in-game year, so starting later will compound the difficulty.

- You have a baseline boat with no upgrades

- Allies have upgrades on all their ships

Therefore, the Ally screening ships for convoys will be able to detect your boat MUCH better than before. It's not impossible but it will be noticeably more difficult than starting at the beginning.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I've played through the game a few times already. Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. What I'm asking is whether I will miss out on some content by starting a later campaign (because I'm kinda bored by the early, easy stuff)?

On the other hand I'd like to play through a longest campaign possible, I guess the campaign ends 44/45?

I should probably choose a later one but my main issue is loosing some content / missions.

You can 'fast forward' time by always taking a holiday after each mission, if you want to make the early part more difficult. Pretty sure you won't be able to keep up with demands unless you're doing epic tours each time out of the docks.

Game "ends"on May 8th, 1945, that's when you get the capitulation order. Now, depending on where are you when receive them, it might be a bit later. But the game effectively is over when you get the news to surrender. You'll even get a summary of your performance.

That's exactly how I've been doing it so far, no issues whatsoever ;)

The economy also gets tighter as Germany comes closer to losing the war. Sustaining your fuel, food and ammo/torps gets increasingly difficult too if you're fighting allies without any upgrades and the economy handicap plus level 1 officers.

Upto mid 1942 you get to rake up lots of money and upgrades so you're much better prepared/cushioned to deal with the hard parts.
