I think this is the only advantage that a cook provides.
Well, I think having a qualified Chef in the galley should decrease the rate of food comsumption and give a morale buff, since Chefs know how to use less ingredisnets and get a better tasty food product.
Haveing no one at the galley should have major nagative buffs and higher waste of food.
Varied dishes provide +4,+8,+12 depending on variation of food and does not change based on officer cook.
Officer cook provides a further buff of +7. If I understand correctly this does not change food consumption rate, just gives a +7 extra discipline separate from the varied dishes buff.
I *think* cooking drains stamina slower than playing cards. (Though IRL it should be the opposite lol)
It's more about having an authentic experience with a cook standing there.
Eh, well I can't speak for WWII German Uboat officers, but at least on the submarine I served on, we did have an officer who liked to get in the galley on Saturday nights and help make pizza for the crew. And one of our XOs would get in there and cook once in a while.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where you NEED that +21... get your boat back to port and go on a freaking vacation!
