[FUN] Ramming is valid
I have manged to use ramming to contribute to sinking an enemy merchant... totally... "meant" to do that
It was a dark night with super thick fog 96% visual penalty
Was running around it using deck gun trying to get enough programmed to use a torpedo
When..
oh.. crap...
not going to .. turn...
SCRWEREGUGINGNNGG
2 crew injured
leaks in boat
tubes damaged
and they launch lifeboats 🙂
did repairs, searched their ship, took thier coffee, left dynamite to scuttle it
took their officers as POW to erm... silence the story

Most fortunate, I figure the mass difference between the sub and the ship would put the U-boat at a serious disadvantage in a collision.

Well I was turning to avoid so it was a somewhat glancing side-of-bow to side-of-bow glance and the merchant had a dozen shell hits already.

You are probably joking because of the whole meme thing about the French but a French passenger ship did ram a paddle steamer and abandoned their own ship once, then recrewed it because the metal clad icebreaker while it did lose it's prow did fair better than the wooden ship which still had said prow embedded in its starboard paddle.

The WW2 French submarines did their share of fighting too.

Anyway... yeah... the ramming in UBoat damages both boats. The merchant had some deck gun hits already so hard to say how much was the ram and how much the hits. A UBoat is designed to come back after sinking a merchant is not.

I don't know if it's modeled in the game, but Merchant ships would try to ram a sub if they felt they couldn't get away. This happened in both theaters.

Got ran over by a destroyer,, i wasnt deep enough .. major damage to boat but it survived the destroyer sank ,, I’ll take that as a “win” 🙃it actually took me a minute to figure out what happened … lol

More to the question: How many troops it takes to defend Paris? Nobody knows - no one ever tried it. :steammocking:
