Arctic campaign: where are all the ships?
I've been campaigning in the arctic for over two months now and have yet to see any ships besides a small group of corvettes etc. during meteorology mission. Where are all the cargo ships that lend lease to soviets?

The Arctic has only two convoys going to Murmansk, there is not a lot of traffic. You need stonks of luck intercepting those. The ships are there, just very hard to find.

Edit: Below a screenshot with how much tonnage I got in the Arctic campaign. I joined Bergen in June 1944 and stayed there till the end of the war, May 8th 1945.

I must have gotten lucky up there as I've just completed my first patrol in those waters and sent over 20k tonnes to the seabed.

The convoy stays a healthy distance from Norway. I actually found the convoy route and mapped it. They seem to follow it quite well. Once you do find a convey plot it out and remember the grid.

I think there is a consol command that reveals ship positions. Now you might call that cheesy/cheating but then the uboat captains also had no information and no forum to ask. As others have pointed out: further north than the coast. Also going north/south while listening gives you better coverage to the east/west which might find ships better.

Funnily enough, I've also taken the North/South patrol approach judging that the fleets would go west but no, before leaving this area entrily for "happy times", the only fleet of merchants I've found was headed north and not west.

Using just the Vanilla game, the seas are quite empty out there! So if your getting bored like I was many times: The console command is: Detect xx xx being the number of ships or convoys closest to you I believe. Just for fun and comparing Vanilla and then with the UBE Mod I wanted to see what the ship traffic looked like on the entire map. I used Detect 10000 and I was amazed the difference with and without the UBE Mod!

I actually used Detect 1000 during Arctic convoys and literally not a single ship anywhere near the patrol sector. Two solo merchant ships were 4 days away from me coming my way BUT WAS ALSO BEING STALKED by a German U-boat each. Go figure.

I cheated to track first of the ships for 4 days. Both the uboat and the transport entered my hydrophone range. Once both were in my direct detection range, the uboat decided to torpedo the transport and one-shot it (it was an Empire Bell).

It counted towards my goal, but there was no fun and point wasting this much fuel and food waiting for this. A few more ships were slowly coming this way, some 2000km away. It's like they all only started spawning several days after I started this specific mission and before that no arctic convoy ever passed towards USSR.

Or maybe September 1941 is too early to do this sort of stuff. -_-

there is a reason UBE tanks your games performance to high hell. the game just isnt optimised (yet?) for that amount of ships :') that said, i did love UBE. just wished it could do its thing without being 10 tons of lead on the legs of performance lol.

This was reportedin the UBE workshop thread?

I am trying to track performance with each version with output logs and specs.

lol. And on the very second try I come across two full size convoys. First one had 4 warship escorts (+7 merchants) which I completely annihilated. Next was a "very large group" of 19-49 ships... Nearly a dozen warships. I got 7 torps left, let's see where I go with this. 50k+ tons already from the entire 1st convoy.
