Torpedo ranges and parameters
I have found this page https://uboat.fandom.com/wiki/Items , can anyone confirm the values there are correct? I am especially interested in T1 torp at 30kt speed - the table claims it should run 12km, but that seems a bit too much.

T1:
Range1 = 5000 (44kts)
Range2 = 7500 (40kts)
Range3 = 12000 (30kts)

T2:
Range = 5000 (30kts)

T3:
Range = 7500 (30kts)

T5:
Range = 6500 (24kts)

thanks for sharing.
Strange the Germans designed such long range (>5000 m) torpedoes given the low accuracy of the weapon... i'd rather have added extra explosives for the same weight :)
Kaboom !

Is it confirmed that the T1 speed/range bug has been fixed? Before B131 T1 had a constant range of 7500m regardless of speed, even though the xml data sheets contained conflicting info.

It has been fixed, yeah

The G7 torpedo was not only used by u-boats, it was also used by S-boats, destroyers, cruisers and battleships.
In WW1 they still used the ship of the line tactics, so the ships couldnt that easy evade torpedos without breaking up the line and if they evade it reduced the hit chances of the guns.
Japan had in WW2 the Type 93 Torpedo (Long Lance) with a range of 20km at 50kt and 40km at 38kt, so they could use the torpedos befor in range of the enemy guns.

Thanks Wolf310ii for the information on line tactics and other ship types, which makes sense :).
I was aware of long range torpedoes in the japanese navy, but wonder what the hit probability would be at even 30 km !
Even with good calculation and settings, it still looks like playing lottery at those distance, as so many things can drift away (same applied to high altitude bombing with unguided bombs)

It helps a lot if the enemy is unaware of the attack, even better if the enemy is so racists that he thinks Japan has a disadvantage in night battles because Asians couldnt see very well at night with their slit eyes.
also the US had a lot of intel about the Typ 93, but refused to believe it, if the US and the UK is unable to build such an advance torpedo, there is no way the little yellow man can do it.
They believed until the end of the war, the ships sunk by the Type 93 were sunk by submarines.
Yes, the "liberators" of europe were rasicst on the same level as the nazis.

Let's just sail on a constant course and speed, they can't hit us anyway. /s
