In your case: No spare parts, broken engines and power distribution toast (i assume the second battery one as there are two) - reload previous save or use the console.
A tip: Remove the repair priority from your officers. They will waste the parts on uncessary things. You would have to manually order repairs but it allows you to control what is getting repaired.
Not an option for him, his engines are toast. You have to get to milkcow, it won't come to you.
Also as above the auto repair option should be off entirely, otherwise your guys waste parts repairing lights and flak guns etc at the end of a patrol.
It was a British convoy escort that boarded the boat and luckily the German crew who thought the U Boat had sunk didn't see the 2 British navy sailors board the boat, otherwise the Germans would have found that we had an enigma machine.
A couple of things that made an impression on me:
- the guy boarding had a service revolver, but both hatches had been shut on the boat, so he didn't know if he was going into an ambush.
- he described the inside of the U Boat as spotless and noted how the officers mess had an impressive galley and all the cupboards had their own keys.
- the chap's name was Sub-Lieutenant David Balme
- as all this was happening another U Boat (U 201) was attacking a different part of the convoy and also some escort ships were rescuing sailors from another U Boat attack
- The navy ship that captured the boat then tried to tow it back to Iceland, but lucky for the war effort it sank as otherwise it would likely have been reported as captured and hence the Germans find that we had an enigma plus all the code books for a couple of months.
Anyway, it's just one of the stories told in the excellent "War Beneath The Sea" by Peter Padfield
